Hello Everyone,

Since i have talked to a few people and they say 'DVD REBUILDER" would be the way to go to minamize quailty loss. I also know it takes time for the process to work it could be an over night process. well i don't have much pations and i hate waiting. so dvd rebuilder or any long process program won't be for me. the reason i went to DVD R+ from DVD R+ DL is only because of the cost. I might be forced back to Dual layer because of my pations which is sad. anyway if your making a copy of the same dvd in dual layer how much quailty would be lost because there will be no compression. would there still be a slight loss of quailty because of the copying process..

If you are interested in backing up to dual layer media, you should consider DVD Decrypter and Imgburn...DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or DVD RB will not be needed because no compression is required. You will be given almost a 1:1 copy, but because some things are removed such as the copy protection, it can't be called a true 1:1 copy. Typically though backing up to a DVD-5 only takes about an hour ( ripping, transcoding and burning) using DVD Shrink or Nero Recode, and quality is quite good...for my purposes anyway. Unless you will be viewing your backup on a large screen high quality TV, the quality loss will be insignificant.

Here are some threads on quality comparisons for your viewing pleasure:
