Hi everyone

Have been having dreadful problems trying to back up my Zoolander DVD. Keeps getting stuck on the VTS_01_1.VOB file. Have cleaned the disk several times and can't seem to get it to backup.

Using DVD Shrink I get the Cyclic Redundancy Error. This happens with DVD43 turned on and off.

When I try to use DVD Decrypter to copy the files it gets stuck at 83% and retries over and over. Have just tried using DVDFab Decrypter and is getting tuck at roughly the 83% again.

Any ideas on what might be wrong as I'm going mad. Never had this problem before.

Thanks in advance everyone.

i'm just having this problem as i type, but on backed up discs (subpar quality ones. i'm trying to re-rip from them so i can reburn to decent discs). i've got 3 drives and have just noticed that my newest drive has managed to rip half a dozen discs that my other 2 drives couldn't do. i guess it's laser is just more tolerant of the crap discs i'm reading from. Anyway, your disc is either faulty or it could be that if you had another burner or dvd-rom drive you'd have better luck. i could never have just the one drive anymore..

Thanks Creaky

This is the first DVD I've ever had problems backing up, so am hesitant to run out and buy another DVD burner.

DVDFab Decrypter got through the VTS_01_1.VOB file after about 20 minutes but then got stuck on VTS_01_2.VOB early in the file so got sick of waiting and shut it down.

Might leave it running tomorrow and see if it gets through it.

dvd decrypter took four hours or so on mine, but eventually finished it and then VOB blanker did the rest!

i personally won't wait that long. if a disc throws up a few errors i try cleaning it then try a different drive. if that doesn't work i ditch the disc and buy another, no way am i gonna wear out my drives on dodgy discs

Are scratches visible on the disc? Have you been successful at ripping any other discs since this one has been giving you problems?

Yep, have sucessfully backed up discs since trying this one.

There are a few visible scratches, but not ones that I would consider a problem. Have done discs with far worse scratches with no problems at all.

Am thinking it could be a copy protection problem instead of a scratch problem.

Sesko, was is Zoolander you were having the problem with as well?

ps i forgot to mention, Zoolander has no funny protections at all. DVD Shrink will do this one fine. the only trouble i had with this movie was watching it for the first time and realising i absolutely hated the film, i'd only bought it due to Ben Stiller being in it :)
