Here's some suggestions:
Make sure your firmware is up to date on your drive - the latest is JSOD. You can check this in DVD Decrypter - go to tools>drive>check for firmware updates.

I would slow it down to 2x or 2.4x and see if that helps.

Your drive supports booktyping so download the liteon booktype utility
and booktype the discs to dvd-rom making them almost universally compatible. http://liteonamericas.com/us/download_utility.htm
Or you may be able to booktype this drive in decrypter - when in iso write mode on the far right bottom you'll see what looks like a book - click that on to change or go to tools>drive>booktype.

hi Illusenia, thanks for the advice on my problem. i've had trouble getting back online since i posted the question but now have that resolved. i went to the link you provided and downloaded the utility,i also just bought some more dl disc and will try again this weekend. i will be slowing it down like you suggested. just one thing about the booktype utility, this may be doumb but does it need to be installed somewhere or do i just open it and make the changes to dvd-rom. its currently on my desktop.

once again thanks for your help.

Yes, the above suggestion will work. I have the same drive. I have no DL issues whatsoever. Firmware upgrade coupled with booktyping will help immensely.

hi again. i bought some more verbatim +r dl over the weekend. i got the latest firmware upgrade and have had no luck. i burned 2 disc and both were identical, the booktype was DVD+R DL. before i burned them i went in decrypter and changed the setting in the booktype window. i clicked on liteon which is my drive, in the box change for i selected dvr+r/+r dl. then under new setting i selected dvd-rom and then clicked change at which time a window opened that said success. then clicked ok. after i burned the dvd i then noticed its profile said its booktype was DVD+R DL. i cant seem to burn a dvd rom. i downloaded the liteon booktype utility to my desktop and changed the booktype there but get the same results. i dont know if this means anything, but i cant get any sound out of dvd's in windows media player, video is fine and cd's play fine. someone please tell me if im setting things up wrong or i have other problems. i can burn single layer just fine.
thanks for any help
