I want to buy magic keys/ swap magic for my PS2 slimline. I to ordered some backup discs and one Japanese title, so it almost seems like it is to late to back out now. But it is very intimidating. If anyone here could answer these questions, I would be most grateful.
1.) Do you have to play backups/imports with the lid up? If I were to hook up the MK/ SM 100 percent perfectly, I would be able to play them with the lid down right?
2.) I have noticed that most of the retailers of this product are based in the UK/ Europe. Are there any American retailers out there? I am from America and would like to get it from my home base if possible? (Does the Magic Keys work better with PAL based PS2s or does it work the same with both the NTSC and PAL PS2s?)
If the answer to this question is it is only available from UK retailers, could some people link me to a dependable sight that accepts American money orders?
3.) What tools will I need not included with the MK/ SM combo? Any at all?
4.) Does it matter what version of the slimline I own or does the MK/ SM work with all of them? I purchased it yesterday, so it has to be pretty new, but it is not the white or silver models.
5.) Last but not least, would it make more sense to just get the Magic Keys/ Swap Magic set and then just use the cardboard and straw trick some people here are talking about? The only reason I ask this is because I've heard that the metal parts of the magic keys could short out the system (although I've only read it as a warning and not as a testimonial of someone who actually had it happen to them?
* I am hoping at least one person can come to this post and tell me that they have purchased the magic keys and it works for them all the time. Is the magic keys/ swap magic a crummy way to play imports?
