I was not sure where to post this. If you have a better thread, please relate that.
Firstly, let me say that I realized that many dvd burning programs
use nero's burning engine. However, I've always preferred to use a
combination of dvd decryptor, and dvd shrink. I just purchased a
lightscribe drive. Only after buying the drive, I realized that
burning the lightscribe disc image was going to require more than I
had anticipated. I've always used a program called accoustica to
print all of my covers and print disc imagaes onto white printable
discs. Now, I realize that accoustica does not presently support
burning lightscribe images. The software bundled with my drive was
nero. I thought this would be no big deal, I would use nero only to
burn the lightscribe images. Then I learned that nero can only burn
lightscribe images that are formated to ncd or nct formats. I find
this quite strange since 99% of publically traded disc images are
either jpeg or tiff.
I'm sure I can't be the first to encounter this complication. What
is everyone else doing? Are you using a file conversion program to
convert jpeg to ncd? What program will do that? Then burning the lightscribe image? How much
image degragation does this cause? Are you using a different
program to burn lightscribe images? If so, what program?
thx

Thanks for your response. I played with SureThing. It does burn lightscribe images. However, it only support two other image formats (.std, .dsn).
Again, since 99% of dics images are in jpeg, how are people burning jpeg images onto lightscribe discs?

I'm really not sure,as I indicated I don't have a lightscribe burner.I'll check the documentation and see if there's any info in there. Maybe there's away to convert the images? If I find anything I'll let you know.
Just remembered a guy at work has light scribe,I'll see what he's got to say.

Surething does support JPEGs. I use it! I usually get the cover/DVD art from the website (I forget which one it is--it's the most popular one). I download it, edit it in Photoshop and then plaster it onto the Surething template and burn the image. That's about it.
You might have some setting checked or something like that. Sorry I can't help anymore but I'm on my notebook in class. If I was home, I could walk you through it.
Also, there's software you can download from Lightscribe.com.
Until then, maybe someone else can help.

Judging from "However, it only support two other image formats (.std, .dsn)." Sounds like you are trying to open an existing project.
Do this instead:
Open up SureThing CD Labeler
Go to FILE --> NEW...
Highlight CD/DVD Lightscribe
Click on "Finish"
On the left side of the screen should be a sidebar
Click on "Backgrounds" and then "Use Your Own Background"
An explorer type window with a tree should pop up allowing you to chose and image =)
Been using SureThing since day one, get it here:
