I'm a newbie in this forum but I've been making legal back-up copies of DVDs for years and have battled every error message in the books. Now I have run across a series of DVD originals which do something entirely new (for me). The DVDs play without a hitch in a standalone player, but when I put them in my computer drives (LG, Sony) the drive doesn't even recognize that a disc is present. I go to the windows XP Explorer and click on drive H, and a message says "Please insert a disc in drive H". Whatever this is, it looks like the perfect copy protection system, if the manufacturers could implement it on all DVDs! But if a cheap DVD player ($125) has no trouble reading these discs and displaying the film on screen, shouldn't we be able to expect that any decent computer DVD drive could stop being so picky, and do the same thing without gripes and error messages?
