Well, 625 backups, approximately 150 throw aways, and approximately 100 re-backups from original. I finally decided to give the label removal idea a go. Guess what? Every MotherF*&C^%$G presumed bad disc is perfectly fine. After constantly getting "CRC" errors (cyclic redundancy check) or bad sector errors I finally got it through my thick skull to do this. Unstinking-believable. All of the time I took to do remakes and all of the possibly perfectly good discs I threw out and it's all because of stinking labels.

Well, you live and you learn. At least I won't have to clip my nails for about 2 months. That's about how long it's going to take me to remove all my labels. Totally worth it though. What a waste of money they are. Oh well, figured I'd let my peeps know of my plight and give big ups to two gents whom I went round and round with a few months ago. Thank you boys for your wisdom. I'm a bit smarter now and won't be using them anymore.

After removing labels on 56 of them so far, only three have still had a CRC, and that is probably in part to scratches or just a bad initial burn when it was done. "ALL" of the ones I peeled the labels off of were unable to be read with the labels affixed. I still have a $hitload more to peel. But if it's going to save my collection. Then I'm all for it, and don't mind at all. If that is what you are asking.

well...... I used to put paper labels on mine, too. I think everyone used to when you first start out! Don't be blaming yourself on that. It's only natural to want to make your backups look professional and duplicate the original down to the "look" of the original, too! Now that you learned that lesson...... when your printer breaks down and you need a new one.... I recommend you buy an printer that prints directly on top of the DVD itself! They make printable DVDs for this reason! I use Taiyo Yuden (best DVD+Rs around)white hub printables or shiney silver printables! I have an Epson R320 and it prints right on top of the DVD and you won't get any CRC errors unless you F..... it up! hahahahaha finished product looks like the original and the shiney silver printables have that hologram look to it! cool stuff! There are more threads out there about this ver same subject.... do a search ..... found on the top of the page!!!
