Hi....I just got some new blank DVD+R's. They are HP's. The first time I tried using one, I got a message that the burn process failed. I was using Memorex and had not had a problem with the 25 or so discs I used. I'm posting the log that came up when the burn process failed. Just wondering if it was definitely the discs or if there's something else someone can notice in the log. Thanks in advance.

You need to edit out your serial number, don't want anyone to borrow it.

Try slowing it down to 4x and see what happens.

Thanks for the heads up. Ok, I'll try doing that. So it's possible that even though a disc says it's "16x" that it really will only work on slower burn settings? The Memorex discs have been fine at 16x so far. I appreciate the help.

Memorex discs are terrible, try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, Maxell (made in Japan).

Ok, I'll look into that as well, thanks. Do you guys use DVD+R or -R or do you find it matters?

Since your burner will booktype it does not matter, using +R is the better format. I use both -R Taiyo Yuden because I have an old NEC 1300a that will not booktype and a Toshiba player and Panasonic DVDR that will only read -R. My Plex burners booktype so I use +R media of Sony or Maxell.

Is this an external burner if so there is a fw update for it to 2.0d. This may help you with your disk recognition
