ok i got FFXII and its NTSC and i have the ISO and i put it to dvd. 8x Samsung PleoMax DVD-R
ITS DOESNT WORK :(!! -_-; what should i do? i burned it twice. first time with dvd decryter and second time with Acohol 120%.
when i start the system up and pop in the swapmagic it loads normaling then i put in the Burned FFXII disc and hit X then it acts like its working. the screen flicers a bit which it does do with Kingdom hearts 2 as well. and then nothing....nothing at all comes up.
the ISO that i burned from to the dvd is 3.75GB so i dont think i would have to rebuild it.
what should i DO!!?!?!?! PLEASE ANSWER BACK!
please help

EDIT: my burner is a Tsstcorp TS-H552L
also my ps2 has a flip up cover and i have swapmagic. i know the swapmagic works because i bought KH2 from japan and my ps2 plays it through the swapmagic. i tested it today to make sure it still worked. but the burned disc of FFXII wont work.

Try usinjg Nero and burn at 4x or lower, if not make sure that your using DVD-R and not +R, and if I were you I'd get some better/more expensive media, ie TY's or Verbatims.

They are your brand of media. I still don't see that as being the problem, though. I've never had a problem burning *any* iso with Memorex DVD-R's. Open your iso with isobuster and see if there are garbage/dummy files. If there are you will probably have to rebuild it. Also I've always had good luck at 6X speed.

To be honest m8 the filesize doesn't look any where near as big as it should do. I don't know for sure but FFXII should be in the region of 3gb to 4.38GB (wouldn't know for sure as I'm waiting for a NTSC/PAL version) or is this the playable demo? And how big and what is in the UDF folder? Also have you deleted any DATA files in an attempt to get rid of DMY/DUMMY.DATA files?

Snikster you mean memosux crappy CMC MAG dye that will last for about 6 months and then they will be unreadable.
Take a guess at what the slang is for CMC MAG . . . . . .
CRAPPY MEDIA CORPORATION MAGNETICS !!

For decent media go for either official Taiyo Yuden (TYG02) or Verbatim (MCC******), if anyone lives in England I can provide a link as it is very hard to come by in England.

Regards.

@Paul: Regardless of the media it should at least boot for 6 months before corrupting, so that's not the problem. I will take your advice and try the better media, though.
Anyway Betterlam, we need a look at your UDF file because that's way to small for a 3.75GB ISO.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you are burning it with Nero using the backup/burn image to disk, right? Also, have you made any successful copies before? You said you're a noob, so I thought I'd ask.

sorry m8 can you just look in the pad2 folder as I forgot that the actually folder size doesn't show and see what sort of file sizes are in there if no luck it looks to me as though you've picked up a dud, what P2P software did you use to D/L it and if it was a torrent which site did you acquire it from and I'll check it out.

PS this is what a working PS2 ISO (Dragon Quest VIII) backup should look like;

And just as an example this is whats in the movies folder;

Would of been much easier if AD allowed HTML writing.

You could try this. Open a new folder and name it FF12 and extract the iso into it. Leave isobuster open and start Nero then select ISO/UDF dvd. Then Drag all your files in the exact order that they are in isobuster into Nero(They'll look like they aren't going in the right order but they are). Burn them and see what happens.

That method does work but only if you have the right files to begin with as to which I don't think he does.

PS It doesn't matter what order you put the files in aslong as you click on the name button before burning as this sorts them.

I checked it and this might be a coincidence, but the first person to get it working used swapmagic 3.3. Plus he also used Recordnow. You could download 3.3 if you have 3.6 and try it.

No you don't have to buy it. Trust me, there are some p2p programs that have it. I have a burned copy. Just boot it with 3.6. I don't really know if it will work anyway.

Cheers Boobooman, Hey you've nearly got the same programs as me except whats Xlink and how fasts your internet loading pages as Firefox lets you change your max pipelining requests from 3 to 30 (how many requests your browser makes at the same time to load pages up) and you can change the initial layout (how long it takes to display a page) to 0 seconds which helps alot.

Anyway back to FFXII Boobooman am I right in saying that you just used Nero's saved image burn option?

Betterlam it really just sounds like you've got a bad combination with your media and burner, as you say the screen flickers which just sounds like a really high PIF/PIE ratio, this even happened for me once with official Taiyo Yudens with a really crap burner Samsung SHW162C then I changed my burner to a Liteon and got PIF under 100 every time over a 4.3GB ISO which is extremely good.

Betterlam you said that you've only done PS1's before and new to PS2 ISO's I know you've probably been through this before but try doing the exact same steps as below;

Situation 1;
Open up Nero Smartstart,
Click DVD at top,
Hover mouse over Backup,
Click on image to disc (making sure it opens with Nero Express which you can select to the left),
Now click on image, disc image or saved project,
Find your ISO,
Select your burner,
And seen as though your media is 8x burn at 4x (always burn at half the maximum speed your media is as this always gives the best results),
And voila . . . . . . no, oh well follow number two then;

Situation 2;
First I always copy the ISO so you don't lose the easy image to deal with,
then open up the ISO eith ISObuster and extract in a folder that has nothing else in it and you can find easy,
When done,
Click on Nero Smartstart,
Open up Nero Burning Rom which will be on the left hand side,
Scroll down until you see UDF/ISO and make sure DVD is selected at top,
Mulitsession tab - Make sure this is selected at no multisession,
ISO tab - File system = iso 9660 + joilet, Character set = iso 9660,
Change the writing speed to 4x then click new,
Now find the folder that you created previously and open it up on the right,
now highlight all of the files you extracted and drag them into the name column onto the left,
When all the files are in the name column click on the name panel with the green arrow and this will arrange them into a workable order,
now click on the burn icon (match with a DVD),
make sure all the settings were the same as before,
then click burn on the top right.

If these two methods fail then its probably the media your using and would advise you to try a different brand but only buy them in packs of 5/10 until you've found the right media for you.

Regards Paul

PS There really isn't any point in downloading Swap magic 3.3 as 3.6 is just an updated version with more comatibility, I know people who've got 3.6 and it works fine, take Boobooman for instance.

Oh and Betterlam apache and ISObuster are two completely different programs.

Ok....this could get interesting.
Well, the screen flickering isnt a big thing. it does the same thing when i start up kingdom hearts 2. and it works perfect ^_^ its like a flicker just after u hit play on a vcr tape. just 1 or 2 flickers and that's it. now i just burned AGAIN like u said in ur 2nd way to do it and it did not work. :( im thinking its a bad copy or something. but i will know soon. i am getting another copy. so soon we'll know.
any other ideas? im willing to try anything at this point.

ALSO i know that Apache and ISObuster are 2 different programs. i just meant that the sizes look the same with the iso.

This is almost certainly a cheap media issue as far as I can tell. Samsung-Pleomax=boot failure. RitekG05=success. My copy Yuden000T02=success. Get some good DVD+R/-R's like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. There's always random noobs who encourage the use of crap media. Be discerning about whose advice you follow. I've burned 180+ games to Taiyo Yuden with 0 coasters. Get some better media. Btw, Swap Magic 3.3 is identical to 3.6, except 3.6 has USB support. That's the only difference. There would be no point booting a backup of 3.3 with 3.6.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm

106. Q. Where can I find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji and Sony have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no guarantee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. The exception is that Sony MIJ 8x DVD+R's will always code out as Yuden000T02. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com
