Yeh but keep in mind that a Version 7 PAL PS2 is not compatible with +R as I found out the hard way.

If you go for Verbatims make sure that they are 8x and have a media ID of MCC****** or TYG02.

Also your firmware might be out of date so I have taken the liberty of finding an automatic update for Samsung Drives (ODD);
http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/Firmware/FAQ/Faq.asp

Its alot easier to do than manually updating.

Regards

Are you positive that's the case for all v. 7 PAL PS2's? Maybe that was just the case with your PS2. I'm not doubting you, but I've never heard that before.

Hi, I had the same problem for a while until I just decided to keep trying to re-burn the game. Eventually on the third disc (burning with dvd decrypter) it worked. Granted, I did have to try rebooting the ps2 a few times because the intro cinematic kept skipping, but in the end I found that you may get lucky and the skipping will stop entirely and the game will run. (I'm using Fujifilm as my DVD media)

Are you using Fuji Film Made in Taiwan or Made in Japan media? If it's MIJ, it could be Taiyo Yuden. I use TYG02/Yuden000T02 for my PS2 games and have never had any coasters since I switched to TY. FFXII plays perfectly in my v.4 PS2 modded with a MI. It got a quality score of 99. I'll post it just be an arse lol.

I'm not sure where these particular set of DVDs were made. I bought them at futureshop here in Canada while they were on sale.

wow..well i got another iso. and i believed that i can get this one to work. i burned it once on 1x with Dvd decryter and it didnt work -_-;
also i dont know what's going on but the original iso i downloaded and this are in rar files. like 70 of them. u know u click the main on and extract well with the first one i just click on and extraced it but i think i clicked the wrong on. so. i did this one right so it should work. but the files that were in the first one are in this one to. its idenical to the first one. so i dont think it was the iso. or maybe it was. because when i was downloading it it had some hashfails and im thinking that was why it didnt work. so i'll burn it again with acohol 120.
hey cerumo what burner u got? now if its the discs. i'll just get what u got maybe it will work for me then.

I wouldn't waste any more discs on it. If you pick up some good media this'll most likely work. If not, then you see the results.

im booting with Swapmagic 3.6. I pop in SM and when it comes up i lift the lip on my ps2's flip top cover, and pop in the burned disc and hit X. 2 lines go up the screen real fast. it does this with every game i do with the SM and then usally the game would come up. but the FFXII disc dont come up. its just all black screen and the ps2 keeps reading the disc. o and i havent done anyother burned disc's or burned games with the SM

now,

i just burned it again with achol 120 and nothin. so yea i'll stop burning until i have more.

besides the dvd's that u suggested are there any other that are good for doing this kinda thing?

Here before you go out buying media read this thoroughly;

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

and also about 1/3 of the way down there is a list of trusted online media stores, also I'v heard rumors that super media store got a batch of fake TY's (just a rumour dont know whether its true or not as I live in England and get all mine from SVP)

Regards
