Well, I was wondering if i went ahead and got this, would the save data be compatible when i bought the english version when it is released? I know PAL wont but they are both NTSC so I was just wondering.

wow that's a hard one...um not sure. i know that u can save a japanese game on a memory card from the US> because memory cards from japan will work in american PS2's. but no i believe that japanese games have a different coding for the saves on the memory card. i may be wrong though. :-/

I don't think it would be compatible. Just to be sure, I tried a little experiment. I have some save data from the PAL version of Gun on my memory card. I tried loading it with the NTSC version of gun, and it wouldn't load. So it appears you can save data from any region on an official Sony MC, but not load it for the same game from another region. That may not hold for all games.

Yeh same happened for me with Need for Speed Most Wanted (PAL) as I rented it out and got to the last two Blacklist racers, then I downloaded the NTSC version to finish off where I left of and surprise, surprise it wouldn't recognise that there was any previous saved data at all. :(

Yeah it must be coded to the games SCUS SCES ID or something. If that's the case, I wonder if patching a PAL game to NTSC or vice versa would work. Sounds like an experiment. Or it uses something totally different to mark saves.

Sounds like another one of those handy guides you could get stickied and another chance of bagging yourself one of those AD Teeshirts everyones so psyched about.

PS what time is it over in the states as its 9.40am over here in England?

Yeah, I found out the hard way that God of War wouldn't be compatible between NTSC and PAL, but since Japan and America are both NTSC I just wondered if they would. I'm in America BTW. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Thnx, but i want to know under what format i burn it in, when i go to nero it says c/ opr dvd, i click dvd for ffxii teh game and cd for ffxii the demo, and den what do i do?m do i burn it under vidoe? or data disc or audio? and so i dotn unzip and of the files at al?? and just burn them witout unzipping any files?and anotehr question, how do i turn the file into a image? i dot have it on a CD or DVD i just downloaded teh game using bittorrent client.

And you told me not to unzip it aso for the demo after it finished...

the file was a .rar file calles Final Fantasy XII, i unzipped it and it made another .rar file called e-ffxiid.rar and so i made a folder and i unzipped all of it onto a folder i named FFXIIDDD and it had random named files and stuff in it. Which do i burn, the first .rar file, the 2nd .rar file or teh last folder with heaps of random files in it.

Okie I tried burnign all under Nero Data disc burning..

I burned teh .rar files and they didnt work the only 1 that worked or got past the "not a valid PS2 disc" of swapmagic was when i burned the random files like
DBCMAN.irx, IOPRP300.img, IOPSOUND.irx, LIBSD.irx, SIO2d.IRX, SIO2MAN.irx, SLUS_291.71, Sysytem, and a folder named PAD2 which contained DS2U.irx

i butned them usingf data sic, on nero and clicked on name after selcting them as someone suggestted earlier this topic and after burnign it got past the valid ps2 disc and the screen kinda flickered and went Black. I burned at speed of 8x as it was teh slowest it could go and it was a CD as this is the FFXII demo and not teh game itself.

And you guys suggest going to backup thingy in Nero but taht requires an image... i dont have an image of this, how do i make an image of this?

Extract the first numbered rar file. That'll give you an iso. Then try burning it with DVD Decrypter.

is teh iso a .rar file, because once i extrace the first .rar file, it gives me anotehr .rar file then once i extract that .rar file it gives me all those otehr files.

PS: that tutorial doesnt help em at the moment becayuse i Downloaded my game and dont have teh actual CD/DVD for it.

The second rar file is an iso. Check the extension of the file, not the icon behind it. Just because a file has a WinRAR icon behind, it doesn't mean it's a rar file. That just means that the default file association for windows is with that particular program. I.E. if you have Windows Media Player as your default MP3 player, all MP3 files will have WMP icons behind them.

WOW! that clears things up SOOO much! by teh way the file that i thought was rwinrar file is called e-ffxiid no extension or anything, thnak you for the help, im downloading dvd drycpter atthe moment and will try as soon as i can = ) cheers

No Luck =(, i used DVD decrypter, i followed teh tutorial, but skped to the part to write instead opf the first pasrt about reading since i downloaded the iso instead of ripping it off a DVD. when i insert the dvd into the ps2 using swap magic, it says its not a valid PS2 disc.

What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

well manufacturer id: TYG02 i cant tell if its a 0 or a O but im pretty sure its a zero. ahh so i checked it and mines a fortis DVD-R 8x. so does this mean its a CD issue?

Just wanted to add that whenj i burn the .iso file you told me to burn onto a dvd as it is over 700megs..when i try and play it on my ps2 usong swap magic it says that it is not a valid ps2 disc however when i extract the files with the iso file as it appears as a winrar file for teh reason u said before and i burn the files with the rar file and try and play it using swap magic.. i hit the load program button and the menu goes red for a split second then flickers on teh blacks screen then just the black screen remains.

Lol. Redwan, I talked to you about this last night on XS. The same tips I gave you apply. Get some legit TY's. If you want to give it another go on the fakes, make sure you burn the iso. You know where the tutorials are. They do work 100%.
