ripdisc44,
I am inferring that this is a game and not a movie.

But if, when copying a movie with Shrink, one gets the "out of memory" error, it is a knee-jerk-reaction, false error message. What is really happening is that Shrink can't handle the Arrcoss copy protection. It has not been updated to handle that kind of purposefully-authored structural protection.

You must decrypt with AnyDVD v.5.9.4.1 running in the background. Slysoft has built in a couple of fixes to provide the users of the outdated Shrink program with current DVD structural-protection breaking fuctionality.

You can get an AnyDVD 21 day full version trial here:
http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

If that doesn't work then shrink is a no-go for you. Bigfatboy seems to like dvdfab decrypter. I have no experience with that program so I can't speak to that point. I would suggest CloneCD (not to be confused with CloneDVD). CloneCD, which also copies DVD's, Games, and CD's should work for you. If you insist on compressing the original, use a compression software from the files ripped to your hard disk. But, if you choose to do it, CloneCD will rip a dual-layer ISO file that maintains the orginal layer break for a dual-layer burn. CloneCD is also available as a 21 day full version trial at the above link that I posted.

Also, there is school of thought that suggests that you should not compress a dual layer game to a single layer DVD backup media. The games operate so fast, within their console/players or on a computer, that they need 100%, non-compressed quality on the copy in order to function well and fast. This school suggests burning dual-layer copies from dual-layer originals in order to get good gaming funtionality.

If your original is not a game, but is really a movie, then I appologize. I didn't find a listing for such a movie at IMDb.

Best regards,
Whisperer

It is indeed a movie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388980/

Probably is ARccOS or somthing at any rate, use DVDFab Decrypter which is free and you can get here

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm

Rip to your HDD and then process with Shrink. Or as Whisperer states use the trial of AnyDVD with Shrink.

Now I'm laughing at myself arniebear!

The OP's thread title started with "problems with disc STRANGE EXPERTS...". So I looked up "Strange Experts" on IMDb!

Then I further fumbled by assuming "...named the greatest game ever played..." (with no capitol letters as a title should have) that the OP was enthusiastically stating that it was the opinion of all the players that this was a great game. Duh, time to go to bed.

Anyway, same advice. Shrink can't handle it alone.

@whisperer

Lol, I thought that Stange Experts was also the name too, until I reread the thread. I guess those that post are the Strange Experts.

thread teleported to relevant forum. i guess i'm not a newbie then :)

don't take this the wrong way, but i do find it odd that this is one of the most common Shrink questions around here, that even an accidental search would have gleaned the answer, this makes the 'experts only' request a tad puzzling

Perhaps when ripdisc44 comes back we may get a strange explanation, as creaky has noted it's a fairly common question so maybe only a STRANGE EXPERT would know the reason for the wording of this thread?????

I thought this would be a good place to mention the use of caps when asking about backing up a movie. If you want to GET help it would be a GREAT help if you would really think about what your asking! The movie, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" has not been released in the United States of America - Yet - gotta wait a few weeks! I am sure if you have ANYDVD running, DVD Shrink and Nero will back it up. Oh, I'm still listed as a NEWBIE - but a few more posts that require a dumb answer will get me closer to being a MEMBER. Gads what a STRANGE THREAD! Sigh!

"Out of memory" is Macrovision's RipGuard protection. To solve the problem, you'll need to use one of the below tools (the choice is yours).

<1> DVDFAB Decrypter (the greatest FREE ripper and it's fast)
<2> DVD Decrypter + PSL plugins (PgcEdit) + FixVTS (FREE and flawless)
<3> AnyDVD (retail with 21 days trial)

If you haven't use VobBlanker or FixVTS, then I highly recommend it (use either one is fine "VobBlanker or FixVTS") in combo with DVDFAB Decrypter. Eventhough DVDFAB Decrypter can handle the job smoothly, yet it won't hurt to "process" the already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker or FixVTS for security purpose (to be on the safe side), plus it's only like 5 minutes to process the movie. However, the choice is yours.

These 2 free tools are extremely powerful and useful. The good thing is that you "don't necessary" need to update them at all, unless you're desire to. Both of them will "process and filter out/fix" any dummy/fake cells, invalid/data structure sectors, etc. flawlessly. That being said, your final VIDEO_TS file/movie is FREE of encryption junks.

Best of lucks to all and happy burning!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

If you want a crappy bootlegged copy of this movie its on bearshare, but fro my expirience "just wait for it to come out on DVD or buy some popcorn and see it in the the theater.

Don't get me wrong i"ve gotten some good video of bearshare, while it was still in the theater, before I relized how illegal bootleging was.

<1> DVDFAB Decrypter (the greatest FREE ripper and it's fast, but doesn't give you the user friendly funtions of DVD Decryptyter and datail, However excuse the caps "IT'S GREAT FOR DUMMY SECTORS AND DISNEY MOVIES THAT DVD Decrypter chokes on")

<2> DVD Decrypter + PSL plugins (PgcEdit) + FixVTS (FREE and flawless, O yeah owned by Sony now so when you install it select don't check for updates "its a classic archive")

<3> AnyDVD (retail with 21 days trial) Its great I used it when I was new to dvd back ups, which leads me to.

<4> DVD Shrink 3.2 complimented by a basic version of Nero.

My fingers are tired, allways good to interact with at home movie critics?lol
