I have a AMD XP 1800 with 512 DDR PC2700 RAM. MSI K7N2G-ILSR and a 120 GB WD with 8 mb cache. I also have the SONY DRU 500A DVD burner. I am running Windows XP Pro. I just purchased the ATI All in Wonder 7500 mainly for the purpose of transferring home videos (currently on VHS) to DVD. I have cable hooked up and am able to use the video on demand and record and playback tv programs without problems.
My problem is when I attempt to capture the VHS analog. At first I used my camcorder and then switched to using a 4 head hi fi VCR. As I switch the input select on the Digital VCR on the All In Wonder, to composite, I see the video feed from the VCR home videos perfectly. I then record the video.
I first used the preset settings of DVD HIGH which uses the NTSC (525), 768 X 480, 8Mbs VBR, etc. When I go to play it back, the playback has horizontal green lines across the entire video that I just captured! I then attempted all custom settings from ATI VCR to large AVI files. And still green lines. I then tried making my own custom settings and attempted variations of the preset custom settings. The only difference besides the video quality, is the number and size of these horizontal green lines.
Other things I have tried:
- I updated all the drivers for the ATI AIW 7500 from their website
- I have updated to dirext x9
- Since I just built the computer and started a fresh OS, XP Pro, there is no need to defrag or scan disc
- I have also gone to ATI website for support and FAQ, they have yet to write me back.
- I wiggled the wires to make sure that they were fastened securely
- I have researched the web
Since my device manager does not allow an option to check DMA, I will attempt to update the MOBO drivers from the website?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I have noticed that If I reboot and start the capture right away, the capture playback has fewer to no horizontal green lines.
Mark.
