Hey all, new here, im pretty much a newbie at this stuff but ummm i bought a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD-Rs and i tried backing up a few movies on a few of them and kept getting errors. i dloaded trial version of Nero Ultra since i cannot afford 100 dollar for it, and it burnt successfully but the movies wont work when i play them. Before this problem i had burnt 4 DVD-Rs and are in great working condition.

Why am i havin this problem now? I wonder why this wasnt a problem to begin with. Thanx in advance for the help, and if i am posting in the wrong forum, let me know which forum to post in.

To start with we could use a little more info. What are you using as your decrypting program? What movies are not working? What speed are you burning at?
There are many reasons for improper burns. we just have to find out why.
While making your backup copes::

1.Do not multitask.
2.Do not surf the web.
3.Do not burn faster than 4x.
4.Shut down any programs running in the background at startup.
5.Check for spyware and adware.
6.Defrag your HD if it hasn't been done recently.
7.Do not use stick on labels--they usually cause playback problems.
8.Use the latest updated version of your decryption software.
9.Check and clean the original for dirt, damage and finger prints.
10.Use the best quality blank media you can find.

My 10 commandments for burning.

Jerry

maybe its because im burning more than 4x? on Sonic i have it on max, but says its burning at 5.4x and on Nero its 8x. My Verbatims are 16x i shall try burning at 4x, other than that i followed everything else on your 10 list.

Regardless of what speed my blank media is rated at I lock my burning speed at 4x. I have read that some members have success at 8x or even 16x burns but there is too much of a chance of burn errors at the higher speeds. So far my burned dvds play in every machine they go into. Good luck.
