how do i get rid of the lagging video (e398)

hey wassup just want to know how to i get rid of the lagging in the video files i convert for ma phone (e398)? I've used ImTOO 3GP converter 2.1 converting from formats like avi, wmv and mpeg into 3gp. I change the video codec to mpeg4 but i get confused with the video bit rate, frame rate and the audio bit rate.

Do i have to find a specific number to make the lagging disappear or does it depend on the file size? because i do have a 256mb transflash card.

I put an episode of dave chappelle on ma phone and it works fine for a few minutes then it stops for bout 1 sec then goes on again. (this happens a few times before the clip finishes)

Help us out i don't really know much i've read alot of forums about converting files but i can't get rid of lagging.
