Is there a way to rename a dvd??

I've burned a dvd that contains a software.. the problem is that it must be named "DVD 1" to make a proper install..
I didn't know that before i burnt it..
is there a way to rename the same dvd as "DVD 1"??

if not, is there a trick to make it appear with the new name when windows sees it??

You can re-copy the original using Nero Express. It will let you name the new copy whatever you wish.

I am not aware of any software that will rename an already burnt disc.

DVDs and CDs are usually read-only media. That means once you burn something to the CD or DVD it cannot be changed...

You mean like renaming the volume label or something like that? Like, for example, if you put in the DVD, the dialogue box that appears, asking you what you wanna do with the title on top? If so, I know Imgburn allows you to do that.

If I am understanding what you wrote correctly, JXP2307 is right, above. If the blank disc you used for this project was a DVD-R or a DVD+R, then that disc cannnot be changed. Once it has been "finalized," one cannot alter the name. And, most of the software out there automatically finalizes right after it burns -- (unless you tell it not to).

If this disc in question is a DVD-RW, or a DVD+RW, then the above paragraph does not apply. THOSE are the types of discs that can be written over, and altered, almost like a floppy disc can. You can easily rename these, just as you can easily delete files, and add new files. Most of the major software programs allow this to be done, easily.

Important -- If the disc is a typical DVD-R or a typical DVD+R, and you think you are now "stuck," you are probably not. You now have the option of ripping it (or the original disc) back to your hard drive, and then re-burning it, and giving it a new name when you do this. There are quite a few software programs that will let you choose the name, as you do this. Some of them ask you to do this automatically, as a part of the process. Some of the other software may require you to go into the menus, and find this option. Thus, in the worst case scenario, you may have to invest in the cost of a new blank disc in order to achieve a working backup of your software.
