Thanks again for the help you've given me so far,but I have another problem. On some dvd's I copied, the video plays fine on my home player until about 19 minutes or so into the movie the movie starts skipping or freezing up like my laser lens is dirty.I clean the lens, but still the problem is there. The disc plays perfectly on my computer. Is it the player, the disk,my burn speed?I have anydvd running and I use DVD Shrink and Nero.My burn setting is at 4x.This happened with Sin City and Last Train From Gun Hill.

What type of discs are you using? Do you save the video as an .iso file?

The discs your using aren't 'A' list stuff. Players can be picky and especially with poorer quality media.
You can try burning at 2x with the TDK and Philips and see if it helps.
Your best bet is to switch to the good stuff like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Instore Taiyo look for made in Japan Fuji or Sony.
Also make sure your drives firmware is up to date.

Aren't A? Those aren't even C's lol (And a C in terms of media, is not good--unlike some other things where C's would be great :))

Anyway, I've had the unfortunate experience of using TDK. It was terrible; so terrible that I decided to get rid of the 3 spindles I had left. It kept skipping in all the players. It was horrendous! I had to sell those three spindles.

I never used Philips but I don't want to.

Just stick to Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. If not those two, then MIJ Sony or Maxell.

I too am having problems using AnyDVD with DVDshrink. I am using a Dell desktop running Windows XP. My burner is a Sony DVD external drive. I am using sony +R media. I have used this media many times with success on my stand alone player which is a Toshiba. I started using AnyDVD and dvdclone both as trial periods. This produced many back-ups with no problems. However, the trial periods ran out and I elected only to continue using AnyDVD since I figured I could use dvdshrink for compression. However, now I am finding that when I use dvdshrink to back up a movie (with AnyDVD running in the background) it will go through all of the steps and appears to work fine. However, when I put the disk in my stand alone player I get a message saying that their is a disk error. I have tried using dvddecryptor and then dvdshrink. I have tried dvddecryptor, VOBblanker and then shrink. All of them seem to finish fine but the end result is the disk won't play in my stand alone player or my dvd drive that I used to burn the disk with. Is there a known problem with trying to use AnyDVD with any compression software other than dvdclone2? Slysoft suggests using AnyDVD with dvdclone2 because they work best together. Any thoughts?

What modle of Toshiba do you have some of the older ones (3years) or older have problems playing backups. Do you have lables on your disk that is a big issue with freezing and skipping also. Verbatim or Fuji are the only way to go.

My Toshiba player is definitely older than three years. Also, some disks that I use have labels and others don't. I really haven't had any problems with skipping/freezing of disks since I switched to a sony burner. Now the problem is it seems as if the disk isn't getting written to properly. I will run DVDshrink (with auto-burn enabled). When I get back, the tray is open with the disk there as if it finished burning. But then when I go to play it either in the Toshiba or my sony burner, I get nothing (actually on the Toshiba burner I get a disc error message).

Skipping and freezing could be caused by a number of things. I use Nexxtech DVD-R. They are even cheaper than TDK+/-R discs. $5.99 for a spindle of 25 and burn at 96% quality according to Nero scan. I've never had any problems playing them on my Sony stand alone player. I've even used TDK disc without problems. Most disc skip on my Samsung stand alone player. I figured that the problem is the dvd player itself.

The Toshiba SD-Kxxx models just don't like backup's some will play, skip, or have disk error I know I had 2. On DVD Shrink if your running AnyDVD 5.9.4.1 in the back ground you shouldn't have any probems. Try enableing overlap I/O in edit, preferance, fileI/O tab.I'm a Clone DVD2 2.8.5.1 fan my self.

Confirm this,if you can.Someone told me that if you burn a DVD and play it on your computer,it will not play on your stand alone DVD player because the laser on the computer is stronger than the one on the home player. It sounds absurd, but I'm new at this stuff.

Here is a suggestion Art90037. Burn a DVD, play it on your computer, then go play it on your stand alone DVD player. This will prove to yourself that it is - what was that term in the last message? BOGUS!

Now get this "Someone" that told you - go though the entire process again - and prove that "the laser on the computer is stronger than the one on the home player" makes no difference and IT IS ABSURD.
