I have been backing up Dvd's for a little while. So far I have had a little over 100+ successful burns on a combination Verbatim DVD+R and Ridata DVD+R's. I recently purchased a new Samsung HDTV and want to get a matching upconverting Samsung DVD player. So far The DVD+R's have worked on my current dvd player that will be now put in my bedroom. But I am not sure if they will work on the new Dvd player. What seems to be the most common working media at this time, -R or +R? The +R's have been working, but I'm not sure if its just been luck. I want to get some dvd's so I dont run out. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks

Most newer players support both formats but if you want to make it almost 100% compatible then booktype +R discs to dvd-rom. Your drive just needs to support this. What's the make and model?

if you're talking about compatibility issues that you fear because of a new player coming into view...... then here is some good reading about DVD-Rs compaired to DVD+Rs: http://www.cdfreaks.com/print/article/113

and after that you can look at this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
read #12 ..... should answer some of your questions and fears.

Thanks for the quick responses... The DVD player I am looking at is a Samsung HD860 or HD950..

I will read over those links..

Here's a good link on booktyping your burner:

If your drives supports it - it's very easy!
You can always post back if you have any questions.

LOL - I'm usually the slow one!
