Guess I must have missed something. I put a homemade DVD in my computer to do some editing. I read that DVD Decrypter would decode the DVD so I could edit it. DVD Decorder decoded the DVD to an IFO. Big deal, I still can not edit it. I suppose I must get another decoder to decode the IFO to MEPG 2 or something. Isn't there a program that will just take my DVD and convert it to some file format that I can work with?
Thanks.

DVD Decrypter - Highly versatile VOB-ripping utility. The software takes advantage of both the DeCSS and VobDec algorithims for looking up and decrypting the CSS encryption. DVD Decrypter is also multi-angle aware, and capable of removing Macrovision scrambling key, as well as the region code during the ripping process.
Decrypter rips encrypted and non encrypted movies to your HDD. If you want to edit something you will need another program.

Don't you dare say something like that about DVD Decrypter! It is the greatest ripping utility there is (AND ITS FREE!) right up there with AnyDVD.
You are definitely way off and did NOT read the description on this product.
What you're looking for is a type of DVD ripper that can rip to a format compliant with your editor, like an AVI file or MPEG-2.

DVD Decrypter "was" a very good program but it is no longer updated and does not decrypt many of the new encryptions. I was never a big fan but that was personal preference..

It WAS good, & it was FREE.

But no longer updated......AnyDVD is now the undisputed Champ.

I still use DVD Decrypter to this day.

If it wont rip a DVD to my hard drive do to copy protection I will run AnyDVD with it so I can get the files to my HDD. AnyDVD cant rip files to the HDD.

I would rather work with the DVD on my HDD rather then my DVD Drive.

Plus its usefull if you have a DVD that could be damaged or pressed bad which will allow you to brute force it to rip the DVD to HDD so you can work with the files.

Yes it can now, just right click on the fox in the tray and choose rip to your HDD.

larrylje you say you still use DVD Decryter. Maybe I (again) missed something. How do I use DVD Decrypter to edit the movies on my DVD without going to AVI, MPEG2 etc.?
Thanks

@Arrniebear
Learn somthing new every day. Guess I should read the new realese notes to learn stuff added or upgraded. LOL

@kelbrit
You dont edit or recode the DVD with DVD Decrypter. It is a ripping/Burrning tool. Not an authoring tool. You will have to use a DVD reauthoring program to edit the DVD.

Programs you can use to Re-author edit DVDs are...

DVDRebuilder+CCE
Nero Recode2
CloneDVD2
DVD Shrink

Thats just a few of the ones out there. I use DVDRebuilder+CCE myself now love the quility of the output DVD.

Thanks for the info. I'll give one of those programs a try. I just did not realize how difficult it is just to put the information from my DVD into my computer so I could edit it.
Thanks again.
