I am wondering if anyone knows how to convert M4V (itunes) files into a more manageable format so that I can burn it into a DVD. Like converting it into AVI or MPEG or WMV.

You purchased the m4v files from iTunes shop?
Is it protected?
If yes, I think there is no program supporting the m4v conversion.

As bigapples say
First determined whether it is protected.
If it's not protected,Video Converter can be of great help.
Recommend one to U: http://www.xilisoft.com/video-converter.html

You may convert your m4v file directly to dvd with winavi video converter (http://www.winavi.com), and then burn with it.

It is possible to use WinAmp and one of its many plugins to make an audio CD from M4V files. If you wish them in an unfettered format, you can rip them to MP3 or WMA. If your sole objective is to rid yourself of the restrictions placed bt rhe music retailer, use a CD-RW over and over again.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Do not be fooled by the xilisoft/IMToo/Winavi crap.

They offer a standard converter that will do what every other converter can. But IT WILL NOT CONVERT your M4v files.

They know that everyone and their mother is going around looking for ways to convert m4v's, so - in my opinion - allegedly - what they appear to be doing is sending shills around to message boards saying 'try xillisoft it worked for me!!' so you'll download their converter, and ultimately purchase a license. Don't fall for it.

teddydo, xiangje - Maybe you guys are legit, maybe you aren't. I don't care, I just know the software you are touting doesn't work.
