BestBuy Verbatim DVD+R DL 10 pack spindle (95166) clearance at $7.99. Check your local store inventory online. If it is in stock, then it is probably marked $7.99 for clearance. I bought 10 10-packs at $7.99 each!

Also, take Office Max ad to price match Verbatim DVD+R 50 pack. Office Max priced at $14.99 and BestBuy priced at $39.99. With additional 10% off of the price difference = Verbatim DVD+R 50 pack spindle for $12.49.

Was tempted to buy the Sony MIJ DVD+R 50 pack for $14.99, but went with the Verbatim DVD+R 50 pack with Office Max price matched for $12.49.

I heard that all MIJ Sony's are Taiyo Yuden even if they code out as Sony's. So does that mean that I have TYG03 (for the 16x Sony' DVD-R) and TYG02 (for the 8x Sony DVD-R)? Just asking, either way I'm happy with the Sony DVD's.

so like all the big 3 will do the price match thing right??
Best Buy, Circuit City and Office Depot.
but you do have to bring in the ad right??
is best buy only place to do the extra 10% off??
i think circuit city does but does anybody know for sure??

thanks

actech - good deal but only 8x speed. I burn my dvds at 16x with the verbs. I still get quality scores above 95 so i will burn them as fast as i can. Thanks for the heads up though.

videoboi- In as much as what you were asking I emailed sony about their 8X DVD-R & DVD+R media (MIJ Specifically ) as to who actually Oem's their Japanese Made media & their reply was Taiyo Yuden ! So even though The Sony 8X DVD-R Codes out as Sony it's Taiyo yuden if japanese made ! Whether or not this applies to the 16X media I could.nt say as have'nt bought any yet but might be worth emailing Sony to find out !?

Yes The Octagons - Finally found a good use for my $28.00 of bestbuy gift cards - 2 -50 Pks of Sony 8x DVD+R (OCTAGON spacers= MIJ's) I had to add $4.37 cash to that & was good to go ! Almost messed up BestBUY had the sony 50 pks. hidden on an end cap & mixed up both TaiwAn & Japanese .Grabbed the first tub Octagon time Mij on label good Grabbed secoond tub & noticed Round Grey Spacer = Phooey !! put that back & got another MIJ spindle ! Thanx Saugmon & everyone for the Tip about the Octagon Spacer ! It's easier to look for that spacer than to try to read Made in Japan with out Magnifaction LOL! Really ! But I bring some kinda lens with me anyways just to be sure ! Good Luck & happy burning ! Ps #1 Not so much downing the Sony MIT's But if I can get the MIJ's same price Well You Know !

Best Buy also has a nice deal on 16x Verbatim DVD+Rs: 25@7.99. Definitely worth a purchase if you like to burn at those faster speeds (not that I recommend it, but I would imagine they'd turn out a lot better than overburning 8x discs... ;) )

I just got back from Office Max and Best buy. Best buy only had sony 1x-16x, no 1x-8x. I picked up the Made in Japan spindle and here's the mid code:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:SONY-D21-000]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [Not Available]
Manufacturer Name : [Sony Recording Media Co.]
Manufacturer ID : [SONY]
Media Type ID : [D21]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x , 6x-16x]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The labeling looks exactly like the +1x-8x,except there's a small green logo saying 1x-16x.

They were out of Verbatim +16x,so I couldn't get a price match.I did pick up 200 of the +16x verbs at Office Max.

Edit: All they had was the sony +1x-16x with the gray/round spacer. They had tons of dash 1x-16x with the white/hexagon spacer. Most likely Ty-g03's!

I finally exchanged the bad Fuji's I got last week for Verbs. Well, I expected everything to go smooth with the DVD-R's. It turns out that the speed only goes to 4x instead of 16x, what's happening? Am I doing something wrong or are they the discs? I have the latest firmware for the drive. I have purchased DVD's before and their speeds have worked perfectly. This store bought DVD experience is turning out pretty nasty.

@AlanK -

Did you click on the "Select preferred store availability " link right below the Sold Out status? BestBuy.com has been sold out for the last month, but you must click the "Select preferred store availability" and put in your zipcode to check your local BestBuy stores.

All BestBuy stores in CO are now sold out of the Verbatim DVD+R DL 10 pack spindle. So I have a feeling that BestBuy is clearing the Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x-8x (item 95166) out at $7.99 for the 10 pack spindle.

Can someone else verify in your location?

One of the "Geek Squad" guys did not know of the sale but looked for some anyway. They had none. I picked up the 20 pack for $40.00
