i got problems with my psp going on the internet too. i currently have 2.0 firmware(psp-1007). my psp s net was fine before i reformatted my comp. now it doesnt connect even with an 100% signal. any suggestions? i looked into my router and found nothing wrong with it. maybe im doing something wrong... here s the error i get when i connect: "a connection error has occurred. the attempt to obtain the ip adress timed out."

If u reformatted ur comp (or PSP) u might have to enter the details again of ur local network.

Hopefully u ave the manual that came with ur router.
Make ur SSID (name of ur network) and WEP/WPA key are the exact same, caps, spaces the lot, on ur PSP.
U will have to access ur wifi router with its IP address, if u dont know it heres how to get it:

In windows go to
Start - run - type in cmd and press enter
command prompt pops up in a black screen type in
ipconfig.
Now where it says default gateway write that number down that is your routers ip , you can close command prompt.
Enter the ip address in the address bar of ur internet browser, that will give u access to the settings on ur router, it may ask u for a username and password, defaults are sometimes *Admin* for both options. When ur in you can configure ur router, i,ll help if i can with this but every router config is different, if u can post the make of ur router that may help, someone on here may have the same router as you.

Are you using security? WEP or WPA?
If you are then turn the security off on your router and see if it works.

leave WEP off for now till you get it working, introducing WEP will only introduce more problems why its not working.
For now configure you ips.
Did you config them automatically or set the ips manually?

Dont forget about what i said if ur SSID or WEP/WPA key is not the exact same as u inputed it into ur router it wont work. Go over it all with a fine comb because the slightest error will prevent ur PSP from getting online.

i set every on easy and auto. as for my router, the only thing i did on it was typing in my psp s mac adress in the wireless card list. maybe its the region or channel my psp is using to connect? but ive connect to the internet with the same psp before using the same router so i highly doubt that s the problem. but i really have no idea what eles may have gone wrong

and i disabled the all the options such as WEP

I had trouble with the mac part as well, one day it went next nothing...
What i didnt do was save the settings of the router so when i exited they defaulted, so go back to the mac options on ur router and make sure its enabled...

ok this is what you do,

when you get to the address settings manually put everything in

Youll need to know your routers IP
Your primary DNS and secondary DNS

To find your routers ip
go to START - RUN - type in " cmd "
command prompt pops up now type in " ipconfig "
Where it says default gateway - thats your routers ip

Now for dns type in " netsh int ip show dns "
and your primary and secondary dns will show write them numbers down

Now on your psp when your at ip adrress you make one eg.
if your routers ip is 192.168.1.1 then you should put your ip as 192.168.1.(a number between 2-254) , if your router ip is 192.168.0.1
then for ip you should put 192.168.0.(a number between 2-254)

Now for DNS enter the ones you wrote down
Tell me if it worx.

on my router, under basic setting it has the choice of "get dynamically from isp" under the internet IP adress tab. should i just go ahead and manually type in my ip adress? same also goes to the DNS adress. also when i typed "netsh int ip show dns" it only showed the primary DNS should i just leave the secondary option blank?

Use the one that showed up as your default gateway, and yes try the single DNS if it doesnt work then go into your router and hit the get dynamice from isp buttons

Connect the router in automatic mode, disable firewall and any security options...

Do you have internet on the computer?..and not on the psp?
or no internet at all...
If you have on the pc.. then the router is not letting the psp go through.
If you have no internet at all, then the router is not being able to tak to your dsl or cable modem... reset everything and turn on the cable modem or dsl first, then the router.. give them time to connect and turn on the pc.. make sure you disable also the windows firewall until you get everything running.. then start adding security to your network (wap, wep, firewall from the router, firewall from windows, etc...) routers have security for ip adressess, mac addresses,.. it could also be that you have your router setted up to accept only one connection..(the pc might be using it already) try to connect without the pc turned on.

Hope it helps.
