I have bought some Verbatim DL in a 10 pack spindle for backing up my dvd's and they have worked great. Now I see that there are some good deals on some inkjet printable Datalife DL Verbatims that come in a 20 packs. No where did I see that the ones I bought earlier in a 10 pack where Datalife. I have had issues with other type of media not playing back in my home dvd player. I know that Verbatim make severl different types of DVD media, and I just want to be sure that these are the same as the ones I have been using.
If they are like their 8x +r,their MID code will be the same: MCC-003 from their regular +8x speed to the white full hub inkjet printables:Mcc-003. I believe newegg.com has that sale?
Datalife can be found on older Verbatim discs that are still being sold. The newer discs produced by Verbatim do not include the wording Datalife. All Verbatim's use Advanced AZO, which is the best dye available.
I ordered them from Newegg. In their description they say that they will burn up to 6x. I am assuming that the MID code is what will tell me whether or not they are the exact smae disc? How do I find out this code? I am just a little nervous about them, since I have found that my home dvd player is very finiky with burned dvd's, and I know that 10 pak of DL Verbatims I bought a while back do work.
speters, you are correct. The MID will tell you if it is (or is not) the same disc. The only difference being a printable label.
You need software to find the MID as it is coded on the disc. If you have Nero, you can use CD-DVD Speed or Nero Info Tool. If you need software other then that, try the free DVD Identifier. The download link is below.
Don't be nervous about buying Verbatim DL media. I know they are expensive, but the DVD+ DL printable Verbatim's code out to MKM001. They are the same code as the non printable DVD+ DL. Verbatim DL media is recognized as being the best out there!
speters, I just got my first batch of Verb inkjet-printable DLs from newegg yesterday. So far I've burned two, and they work just as perfectly in all three of my standalones as my non-inkjet-printable Verb TYs.
