I have been burning movies successfully with DVD decrypter, then I use DVD Shrink and burn with dvd decrypter for quite some time now. Before if I wanted to copy a disc that I have recently burned I would just do a direct disc copy with my Sonic software and had no problems. Recently I have just tried to make a copy of Dvd's that I have previously burned and I keep getting an error message with both Sonic and even if I go through the whole process of decrypter and shrink. Sonic will tell me there is a problem with the disk I am trying to copy from or also with the disk I am trying to write to. It will decrypt and Shrink fine, but as it is burning when it gets to about 40% it stops and shows an error message. Currently I am using Memorex (and have recently found out they are not the best choice) DVD+R but have also used discs from two different spools. I have no problems burning or playing DVD+R that I copied once, but I am experiencing problems when I try to re-copy my burned copy a second time. Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated.

Find out what the MID codes are from those different spindles of memosux.I'll bet cmags are one of them.

That's exactly what the crap media does to people. It makes it harder to re-rip them later. Memosux/HP/Philips/TDK/Imation/Office Max/khypermedia/etc: Majority of their media is low quality. Low quality standards.

You have too many errors on your backups! You probably get crc errors- Cyclitical Redundancy Check. When it comes to re-ripping backups and you get that error,it has bad sector/s in the disc and can't get through them. On the Fly would definitely coaster out.Your stand alones may play them perfect, but a dvd-rom drive definitely will pick it out. It needs every byte off of those discs in order to copy it.

Try setting dvd decrypter/Tools/Settings:CSS tab: Set it for Brute force.
File-I/O tab: Ignore read errors/OK.

Then use Mode ISO read to harddrive/Mode ISO write/Locate MDS files/open/OK/and burn. If you still get that error, then you have some major errors. Try running them through a disc scanning program like Nero Speedtest/Kprobe/Plextools/or dvdinfopro.

Unrippable backups: Many things can contribute to this:
1) Media quality-use taiyo yuden or verbatim.Highest quality dye out ther.

2) Use a burn speed that gives you the fewest errors. Crap media has to be burned slower.I get them when I burn quality media too slow.

3) Backup target of 4360 mbs. Keeps the burn from reaching outer edge.Low quality stuff may have to be reduced to 4300 mbs.

4) No paper/sticker labels.

5) No multi-tasking-turn everything off as possible. I don't need the internet when I backup dvds.

6) Quality reader to place the files on your hard drive/and a quality burner to help keep the errors down.Keep aware of your firmware version and when newer updates are listed. This firmware controls the writing strategy.

7) A clean registry/and no spyware/malware.Run registry scans occasionally

8) Keep harddrive/s defragged.

The first copy of a dvd you make, you need to keep those errors to a minimum.Too many of those little errors/or in the wrong spots, and you may have trouble re-ripping them. On the fly,or backup to your harddrive again.Quality is the key to success!

On the fly is riskier-but I have no problem.Perfect 15 min copies using nero's copy disc.20 min copies using sonic.20 min process when I use DVD Decrypter in Mode ISO read and write-all using 4x burn speed when I do copies that aren't on my harddrives.
Backup to harddrive, just like original dvd is safer.

if you want to make a backup of your backup, what works best for me is i use ashampoo, or Nero or Blindwrite and just hit copy disk and in as few as 12 min i have a great backup make sure that the disk that you are trying to backup is nice and cleen and no multitasking, you don't have to rerun it through anyother programs like DVD Decrypter or shrink cuse everything has ben taken care of when you made your first backup, the media has some difference in the quailty of the burn so good luck, by the way i do make backup of my backup a lot so i know that it works

It loks like DVD Decrypter was able to rip the disc to hard drive, so the problem is now during the burning process.
If you use DVD Decrypter to copy a copy , like you were advised, no need to use Shrink(unless the first burn was too close to the edge to begin with). Just use ISO read/ISO write. I would definetly get rid of memeorex media. What speed did you try to burn at?
When you get that error with DVD Decrypter- post your error log.

Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!

This time I was using Memorex 16x DVD+R, where as in the past I have used Fujifilm DVD+R 8x. My DVD Burner is LG and is a 16X. I tried to burn at both max and the reduced speed. I am going to try to go back to FujiFilm 8X and see if that makes a difference.Do you think this will work? If I still get an error message I will re-post the error message.

Fujifilm 8x: These will ID as Yuden000-T02 in the japanese spindles, and ritek-R03 in some of the taiwanese spindles. There may be more manufucturers for this fuji +8x speed media.

Sunday, there is a sale at Office Depot and Bestbuy on verbatim 16x. $15 a spindle of 50.
These are some very high quality media and seem to perform better at the 8x and 12x speed. You may want to give them a shot in that LG drive.

I switched my discs back to FujiFilm 8X DVD+R and am able to recopy copied dvds using my Sonic software successfully. However when I tried to back up 2 different original movies it said the process was successful (no error message now), however I am unable to play either back in any of my DVD players including my DVD drive on my comp, they do not read the discs. The process I use is DVD Decrypter, Shrink and burn ISO with DVD Decrypter. It appears that the problem lies somewhere from the shrink to burning with DVD Decrypter. Any ideas on what to do? When I go home today I will try to re-install shrink and DVD Decrypter. Also if this does not work what would be anyone's suggestions on the programs and steps to use on how to burn a DVD?
Thanks for all your help

If this is a copy of a copy DVD Shrink will not be needed because the content has already been compressed. Rip to HDD via ISO read mode in DVD Decrypter and then burn via ISO write mode with DVD Decrypter.
