Hi, after reading about this product several times over the past month i finally decided to but it and today it arrived. So it was the Magic swith pro that i decided to get as it is a new slimline ps2, Anyway i installed the parts as they are shown on the swap magic website and then reset my console and inserted the 3.6 dvd. I have only tried it on a dvd+rw(Didn't know if they would work or not)and it didn't work so iam in the process of burning my game onto a dvd-r, What i was wondering was if when you select to load the backup to boot normally or speacial is the boot screen meant to go away and turn red for a split second, as mine does then it returns to the screen where i select how i want to boot it (I guessed that is when i swap the disc. Could someone please correct me if i am doing anything wrong.
Many Thanks.
EDIT: Ok so i finished burning my game onto a dvd-r. i inserted the dvd 3.6 disc into the ps2 selected normal boot, the screen went away then came back at the point where you have to selsct your option of how to boot. I swapped the disc and selected normal boot with my backup disc in. Then the screen went away and the big red floaty screen came up saying that "This is not a ps2 game please insert a format ps1/ps2 disc".
Can someone please help me out?

My little information to help you, when swapping the DVD/CD do it at the first time you see the screen. Whenever I accidently press X and it tries reading my SM3 disc again then a backup it never loads. But when loading a backup right from the first time it works flawlessly.
PS2 v12 + Swap Magic 3.6 + FlipTop
SwapMagic Exploit on MC
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4
Nero 6.6 + AnyDVD 5.4.1.1
?s on my postings, PM me and I'll get back with you asap

Ok when i try that the screen goes black and i thought it was working but it just stays at that black screen and the laser makes a sound as if it was trying to read the disc and couldn't.

Experiment with disc types and brands (if you can). I had the same problem with a DVD-R;it didn't work, so i tried a +R and it works.

Hey dun211,
First, as far as media, its best to go with DVD-R. As many have said on this site, taiyo yuden or verbatim are the best (personally ive never had problems with memorex). Next, this should be your process... load swap magic, get to the selection screen, switch your disc, then press square. I think what you are doing is pressing square then switching
Hopefully that works

And you should just use the normal boot.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone but i still get the same problem of a black screen staying there and the laser having problems reading the disc. I've tried loading it normally and using the special boot but it wont work. Im starting to think that maybe there is a problem with my Swap Magic Discs.

There is not a problem with your swap magic your using if the menu comes up. What does appear to be your problem is bad media. Just out of curiosity what brand of media are you using and what speed are they rated at?
@Ankoku I really wouldn't advise using Memorex media as this is known to send your PS2 laser to an early grave. Even if it costs that little bit extra always use quality media (ie Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, accept no alternative) that is if your wanting your backups to last longer than six months.

Try to burn another game, it might be that the game isn't compitable with swap magic, and like said try different types of medias (TY or verbatim). Static black screen is usally sign of not-working game or bad media.

It is definatley 110% bad media to blame Midnight Club 3 should work just fine backed up on quality media.
Also Vanyun the reason why it doesn't work when you press X is because once you have pressed X and try again you first need to refresh the TOC this can be done by reinserting the swap magic disc and starting agin.

I had the same problem.
Just copied the data from the bad disc to a better one (Verbatin, TDK,Traxdata is what I use), and worked fine.
I already did it many times with old backups.
