Hi, i am trying to back up copies of foreign films with english subs using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink.

problem i'm having is that although the movies burn fine, there are no subtitles.

is there a setting i have to change in one of the programs?

do you mean tick the box which says 'hide audio and subpicture streams of insignificant size'?? that seems to be the opposite of what i'm trying to do?

the only other one is 'disable all subpicture except menus'. again ticking that seems wrong?

sorry i see what you mean now.

yeah i do have that ticked, but still don't get subtitles on the movie.

also, when i look at the start/end frames and scroll through the movie, there are no subtitles on it, but the dvd does have subtitles.

is there a setting in decrypter i need to change?

if these are normal subtitle selected via a dvd menu then they will not appear when previewing start end frames but as long as you do a full disk backup the should be available on the disk as long as you are doing a full disk rip with decrypter in file mode it wont remove anything except proctection

yeah they are normal subtitles that u get on any foreign dvd. i haven't changed any settings in decrypter, but none of the settings seem to be about subtitles?

in shrink i'm just doing re-author, dragging the title 1 across then doing back up. i can't see anything to change?

If your reauthoring with shrink that is probably why your losing your subtitles try using full disk backup there is a DVD Shrink guide on my page follow the link in my sig

are you processing the disk first with dvd decrypter in file mode and then loading the resulting video_ts folder into shrink if so if dvd decrypter is giving the error try cleaning the disk it means that it cant read some of the data if that doesnt work have a look at this guide on my page

dvd decrypter guide for damaged or faulty disks
