I have took my old xbox hd out and trying 2 put a new onw in that i got from my friends xbox, but every time i hook the idc cord 2 the new hard drive i get error 06, or somtimes 07. I just 2 no how do i fix this problem

you have to unlock the HDD and lock it on your xbox that should work

that is one way is soft moddin the xbox's and lockin and unlocking rate from the dashboard witch is a ton easier but if you would like you could hotswap

well if u softmod it you can get the evo x dashboard from that dashboard there are locking and unlocking tools for the xbox

would about your old xbox HDD put that back in there
-your gonna need your friends xbox softmod his (put his HDD in his xbox) download evo x unlock HDD
-softmod yours
-put his HDD in your xbox
-hit lock HDD on your evo x dashboard

my xbox hdd is messed up from a softmod i keep getting error 16 with my xbox hdd, thats why i put my friend old hdd into mind

i used 007 when i did my hdd and i think i delete a file i wasnt suppose 2 delete and i turned it offf then when i came back 2 play it it flash red/green and error 16 came up

Thats why my friend let me have his old hdd from his old xbox

ok you could fix your old HDD just hotswap and use xboxhdm
-you could build the xbox from scratch and make it bigger
-tranfer files into like the dashboard

but if you dont want to do that and just use your friends just hotswap (witch will unlock the HDD) make a DOS floppy (witch has locking and unlocking tools) hotswap the HDD with it in your friends xbox and then put the HDD in your xbox hook it up to the computer like a hotswap put the floppy in and boot your comp. up it will bring up or go 2 this site http://xguides.xbox-scene.com/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=XBOXHD...

1.unlock HDD
2.lock HDD
in your case press 2

no it shouldnt when i hotswapped it didnt but if you rebuild your old HDD (the one that got error 16) that will delete everything
