Hello there.

I did some research on your drive and I must admit I'm a bit confused. I've read some reviews of this drive speaking of booktyping possibilities for this drive. Heck, this is a screenshot of Plextools... Note the booktype options at the bottom...

On the other hand, there is a page on Plextor's site that says none of their drives currently support booktype setting... Here's a link

http://www.plextor.com/english/support/faqs/G00053.htm

Has anyone successfully changed the booktype when burning with this drive?

Always use good quality blank media. Verbatim is always a good call. Don't be seduced by those 50-spindles you find in the $2.99 bin at your local car wash! :)

hi - i figured it out - there really wasnt anything i had to do
it was set up to book to dvd-rom already

the problem was - i was using a DVD+RW disk -- and it dosnt work with the RW's - so that was the problem -- with just DVD+R and DVD+DL
it works --

i was used to my NEC which i upgraded the drive to booktype and the with the NEC -- it worked with all DVD's -- so it was my mistake

the plextor works and booktypes but only with DVD+R and DVD+DL

thanks

but plextor claims it can burn certain 8X media at 16X -- but dosnt say what media would do that - - ??

Glad to hear you found a solution. Still, it's funny that Plextor would say that on their website...

As far as burning at 16x goes, even if they said it can be done, I wouldn't try it with any media. More chances of getting errors and compatibility issues. I think 8x should always be burned at 4x.

i havnt tried it at 16x -- i would if the media would do it

i havnt really had any problems burning at 8x -- i just got a x2 4200 amd - and its works pretty good -- i like to do a few things at once

i can check a dvd for errors and rip a dvd at once or rip and burn dvds at once - downloading and browsing and it all worked -

i had pretty good results with ridata ritek - very few coasters if any
