ok ive been useing dvd shrink to burn movies but latly the movies will burn anywhere between 50% and 80% and then fail. i use dvd decriptor then i mount the iso file with nero 6 and then i use shrink to burn. now i've done over 100 with no problems. now i can get like 1 out 6 to burn all the way. any ideas its notthe disc ive used them all and usually stick to verbatium. ive uninstalled the driver and reistalled them nothing has made a difference. also about this time and i have no idea if it is related the icon in my computer for my dvd burner disappears and putting in a disc to reader after it disappears does nothing i have to reboot to fix the problem. any ideas please help i cant afford to throw away 6 disc for every movie.

Have you checked if there is new firmware for your drive? Do you use the same drive to Rip/Burn your movies? How long have you had the drive and how long have you been burning? Could be hardware failure...maybe time to get another drive =(

Well there's the BenQ 1650 from www.meritline.com I believe its $37 + Shipping. If your drive still rips movies well, might consider keeping it and use that to rip movies in the future. Ripping and burning using the same drive takes a big toll on the drive and shortens its lifespan. Or if the drive is pretty worn, you just might consider springing an extra few bucks and pick up a DVD-ROM drive so you'll have two drives on the computer one to rip and one to burn.

Here's the link to the BenQ 1650:

If it's over a year old, there's plenty of other hardware out there that's better and still cheap. I got both my Liteon drives for under 50 bucks and I absolutely love it! I have no issues with them. They're constantly being updated and again, no problems.

But anyway, the problem you're experiencing could be the drive. Can you give any other details about the problem you're experiencing?
