Softmodded EVO box freezes on MS Dash HELP PLZ

Hi all -
I bought a softmodded XBox a few months back and everything has been great with it. It had XBMC and RegionX and a bunch of emulators preloaded along with the Evo dashboard. I was a happy man indeed! I realised that after a few months I should start to get rid of a load of game saves to free up some blocks so I went to the menu to access the original MSDash.... the screen says loading.... and that's all that happens.
This softmod was preinstalled so i don't know if there is anything wrong with the installation - everything else works fine. So, is there another way to find game save files on the HDD (which is only a standard size) and remove them manually or am I going to have to try and restore the MS Dash. I have an iso of Slayers Auto installer if that is of any use. I don't really want to have to wipe the current dash as I wanted to keep some of the saves.
I don't get any error codes - it just freezes when trying to access the original dash which makes me think there are files missing? If that's the case is it possible to update the MS dash from a new Live game?
I hope someone can say whether the box is knackered or walk me through getting to the game saves or a new Dash. Thanks guys.

ok. ftp will help. follow the link in my sig. then look for ftp tutor. When you success getting connection between pc and xbox, let me know. I will show you how to clean up all save games.

wait wait wait. Sorry I missed out the XBMC. You can clean save games through xbmc. Just let me know when you are ready.

Thanks for replying mate - I've booted up and started XBMC and had a quick look around the file tree. There is a folder called Saves but it just has the save games from my SNES emulator. I'll be online til about midnight GMT if you can walk me through it - cheers......

ok save games are in E drive: UDATA and TDATA. There is a lot of folders in there. each folder is a save game.

Yep - the TDATA folder has 38 objects and UDATA has 37 objects. All the folders have odd names such as 0face008 and 4541000d - is there any way of working out which files go with which games or am I going to have to delete the lot - for example I don't want to lose my hero from Fable but don't mind binning my Black saves. Also is it safe to delete the whole contents of these folders or are there system files in there as well

oh shit. thank to remind me that you have softmod. It should not hurt your xbox because they are just memory. however you only have 38 save games, so they are not that big at all. You dont need to delete them.
You can back them up to PC before deleting.

You are a king amongst men! I know my box is nowhere near full of saves yet but I didn't want to cram it full of loads of important saves only to find I had to blank the drive and loose them all at a later date - So I can just carry on until one day a game will tell me I don't have enough free blocks to save. Then I can go into XBMC and delete the whole contents of these two folders, or just back them up to my HDD though ftp, reboot and carry on as if it was a new box with no saves cluttering the drive.
If that's the case I will stop pestering you and start The Godfather. thanks for all your help again mate!
