Hi
Shrink has been working well for me for many years and lately i have been encountering this error message on some original dvds but not all.
I have reinstalled dvd shrink too many times to remember and it is still occuring. I have tried DVD43 and ANYDVD and the error still occurs.
ANy advice?
Thanks

Welcome!
1st thing I would do is dump/uninstall DVD43. Since you have AnyDVD you really don't need it. Having both on or running can cause problems. Plus DVD43 can cause problems with other software like dvdfab decrypter and DVD Decrypter.
Make sure AnyDVD is up to date - the latest is 5.9.4.1. So far it will handle any movie with Shrink.
Which movie(s) give you this problem?

hi Blinky7
Thanks for replying
I wasn't running DVD43 and AnyDVD at the same time. And my any dvd is ver.5941.
The latest DVD that has this problem is "Friday Night Lights" 2004.
any more thoughts?

adunit,
Is the error you are receiving a CRC error? If so you can try clening real well and try ripping it again. If not can you write down the exact error and post it back

This movie does give shrink a problem but I'm surprised AnyDVD didn't do the trick.
So now let's try dvdfab decrypter or DVD Decrypter. Rip the files with either of those then open those files in shrink and go from there. DVDFab Decrypter is still updated and is only a ripper.
DVD Decrypter is no longer updated but still a great ripper and handles most movies. It will also rip and burn in iso mode.
Here's links for both:

Uninstall DVD43 if using these though.

Wht is a CRC error? What i wrote is exactly what appears.
I ripped it with AnyDVD and shrink still fails.

A crc error is a cyclic redunancy error - (read error). It usually means something is wrong with the disc like it's dirty/scratched or a bad press. But some programs like shrink will throw this error out if it can't handle the copy protection.
Your error - parameter is incorrect - programming error - exception occured - is also another error shrink gives when it can't handle the movie.
Almost forgot you can also try the ripper with AnyDVD then try processing those files thru shrink. Right click on the red fox and choice 'rip video dvd to hard drive'.

even ripping it and still shrink fails - 'shrink encountered an error and cannot contimue. failed to open video_ts.vob'
I surrender.

Well you should only be backing up discs you own - so back up the one you buy.
I didn't have any problems w/ this one - been awhile but I used AnyDVD w/ either Shrink, Recode or CloneDVD (region 1).
