I have Dvdshrink 2.3.0.15 on two computers and they are both locking up on me. I get through the first analysis. Then when I go to change settings or reauthor, it locks up. It's doing this on both computers and I have tried reinstalling with no luck.
Did you type in the version of Shrink incorrectly? Are you attempting to multi-task at all on the computer (see how many processes are going on)? Do you have sufficient ram?
I'm sure your version of DVD shrink is current, I think you just got the numbers mixed up. In case you do need to download the current version, you can get it here:
Run DVDFab decrypter and use it to rip the video files to your HDD, DVDFab is a whole movie ripper that will rip the disk's entire contents to a VIDEO_TS folder it creates on your HDD. Because it rips everything to your HDD you'll need DVD shrink (or nero recode 2) to reauthor the movie and shrink it down to fit onto a single layer disk.
Once DVDFab is done run DVDshrink, choose open files and browse to the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab and choose it. Shrink will import the files, at this point you should be able to use shrink as you normally would to create your backup. Burn to disk using your application of choice.
Sorry, I mistyped, I am running 3.2.0.15. I'm not running other programs at once. I've never had this problem before. I have had to use AnyDVD before but it is expired. Are there new safety features on the movies now that shrink can't get around?
Thanks Johnl123, that worked. Would anydvd do the same thing do you think? It would also save a good half hour off the time because you don't have to save it to your hard drive, but it is $39.
Anydvd will work with DVD decrypter(after some of its settings have been changed) or DVD shrink so you won't need to use DVDFab, which will save you some time. Yes, anydvd costs money, but if you backup movies on a regular basis, it's worth it. The software is constantly updated and works very well, I personally use anydvd along with clonedvd2 and have yet to have a problem with backing up a movie.
If you want to keep it free, you can, but it will involve a little more time and effort.
Note: You shouldn't anydvd with DVDFab decrypter, they don't play well tegether.
I think when it uninstalls it leaves something behind that will not allow you to reuse it, you could try reformatting your drive, but that seems pretty extreme, maybe an in depth search of your folders, using "View" option "Show Hidden Files and Folders" would let you find it, but that might take a while.
Yeah, I know we always want something for free, but I gotta say that the 39 bucks it costs to purchase the key for AnyDVD is absolutely worth it. Like it's already been mentioned, it's always being updated; you have unlimited downloads etc. It's easily worth every penny.
And it works so damn well!
lol but if you wanna stay free, use DVDFAb or VOBB.
