PS2 DISC READ ERROR! I ADJUSTED THE LASER

please help. first. i cleaned out all of the dust when I had a disc read error. That lasted me for about 4 months. Now i get the error again and i cant play any of my ps2 games! So i took the risk of adjusting the laser. I kept trying for every single distance away from the disc basically and it STILL DOESNT WORK! PLEASE HELP. is there any other alternative to fixing it??

i suppose you tried to adjust it in both directions?
that would be about your last option. If the laser adjustment and cleaning doesn't work a laser replacement may be the only other option.

depends how much you like your PS2 and weather you feel like going without it until at least November when the PS3 gets released. That is if you can get your hands on one at all.

A laser is like $50 and the install is about $35. Plus the cost of shipping the PS2 to a site for install.
So you can do that or take your chances on a used PS2 from Ebay or a pawn shop. Both costs about the same but with a new laser you know you will be in good shape. I had a V5/6 that the laser had problems on, it just didn't read games well anymore. I sent it to Teammodders and had a new laser and DMS4 Pro chip installed so i could "donate" it to a friend of mine. It has been running strong ever since.

Try adjusting the laser pots. Its the last throw of the dice if nothing else works. This will adjust the laser biasing. It reduces the life of the laser diode but hey if it don't work already give it a shot.
It worked for me.
