Greetings,

A friend directed me here, saying that it's the best place to find answers about burning DVD's.

I read the other forums and used the search feature but couldn't find anything related to my problem, well more like an inquiry. My dilema is that I have a lot of videos and my HD is getting pretty packed, I want to be able to merge all the AVI's into one so I can burn them in a DVD(s) and hopefully to find a way to edit them (like cutting the intro/ending), and hopefully (but not needed) a menu.

Now, most of these things are listed here and I'm sure I can find, except for how to merge all my AVI's. trying to keep video quality and sounds to it's max. I'm willing to buy any program needed, and keep in mind that I'm pretty much a "newbie" when it comes to this.

Thanks in advance.

PS. I didn't find a forum that I could fit this thread, the only newbie one is for DVD-/+R and this is not about the DVD, is about editing videos.

heres one i found at http://www.gold-software.com/AVIJoiner-file6878.html, use Nero to make menu's if you need them. Nero Vision You can also edit them to get rid of ending names or beginning stuff.

VirtaulDub is the best joiner there is...and its free. You can find it in the software section here at aD.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Yeah VirtualDub kicks BUTT!!! Get it here (afterdawn)at: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/virt...
and the super simple instructions to join .AVI files at: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/virtualdub_join_avi.cfm
and if ya got problems with opening an .AVI file due to the error: "unable to locate a decompressor" like I did read this thread at: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/323129
(P.S. K-Lite codec Pack Full v2.71 is the best!!!) available at: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/k-li...
That above thread also covers the "Appending AVI Segments" problems I had due to the common use of "Variable bitrate (VBR) Audio" on XviD .avi's which causes the error: "audio streams do not share a common sampling rate" when you try to append the two files...

So I couldn't be happier now with this program!!! BTW if your looking for the best/simplest program to convert the once merged file to a DVD check out ConvertXToDVD and you won't regret it available at: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/v...

Good Luck

a comment to go with rdmercer1:

after the conversion process your file is now mpeg2 compatible, software like TMPGEnc dvd author will allow you to add menus and basically pretty your project before it utilises Nero to burn the project to disc
