Inform me if I figured this out on my own, thanks to many hours reading on this site. I bought some Maxell -rs the first time I started backing up my dvds. Well I burned The whole cke box 25 without a problem. Then I ordered some Verbs because you all say they are the best. Burned another 50 no problems. I had some more verbs ordered but had to go get some Maxells till they arived, Thats where the problem started, burned 10 and not a one would play on my $700 Yahama, but will play on any of the cheap $25 players in the kids rooms. Whats up with that? Did get my verbs and reburned and they play fine on the Yahama player. I assume I got what ya'll call a bad batch, is this so, or do I need to look at something else. I started to go buy another dvd player. Thanks everyone
Just because it is a $700 dollar DVD Player dosent mean all media will be compatible with it. With maxwell it is possible that the ones you bought first where actully made by a diffrent manufacture on the second batch you bought. If your DVD player had problems with the Maxwell id stay away from them.
It would be best to always stick with Verbs or TY's. I have had problems simmiler to your problem. I have been guility of using cheap media myself. The cheap media wouldnt work on 2 of my high quility DVD player's but would work on my $50 cheap DVD player with no problem.
I got tired of it and finaly have stuck with TY's and never have a problem at all with them. Everything plays perfect using them. So save yourself the time and money and stick with Verbs or TY's. always make sure you are stocked up on them.
You said the original Maxells worked fine.
The first ones were probably made in Japan, and the second ones were probably made in Taiwan. Maxells made in Japan are good quality media. Stay away from the Taiwan made media. Verbs are the exception to this rule though................

Where do you find the G04 or G05 thing you are talking about, and how can you tell if they are made in Japen like you all say is good, with out opening them and checking a disc?
