My boss just got laid off after 20 years of service; we should all feel some sort of gratitude for our gainful employment else give the positions up so someone else can earn the income. Nasty stance but if you aren't career oriented or haven't experienced the pain of losing a position you worked hard to achieve, I'd say shut up and get a real job.

@regor.
Sorry it's a touchy subject for you and I do feel sorry for your boss. I had a similar experience 5 years ago, worked for a company for 15 years to be let go. Taken me 5 years to get back to where I am now. However we are just blowing smoke and shooting the breeze. I'm sure no one here takes there career frivorously, but it's good to do it with a smile and then bank the cash at the end of the month.

hi :)
i'm an employer, and i expect all my workers to
1. slave their fingers to the bone
2. work through the dinner break
3. drink a cuppa tea on the move
4. see the sweat drip off the end of their nose and chin.
if at the end of the day they are not gibbering wrecks and to tired and worn out to turn the key in the car to drive home. they are no good to me and are fired (oh and i got my lackey person to type this)

My bitch for the day...
Some older kids while rough housing at the local water park knocked my boy down and busted his lip and scraped his chin on the concrete and didn't stop to say sorry, neither did the parents. Some parents should be taught some manners so they can pass it along to their kids. They are lucky it was my wife that was at the water park and not me or they would have been schooled.

I will agree with you on parents getting lax in the discipline area. My gdaughter is 5 and riding your bike in her development, and the 7 year old down the street would not let her pass he is already a bully and parents do nothing. The other little girl across the street hits my 3yr old gson for no reason other than he was standing there and the mother does nothing.

My boy just turned two, the boys who knocked him down were probably about eight. My boy will be taught manners or it will be his ass that is red. My parents weren't strict but I knew what respect was and how to be polite. Saying "Thank You" and "Yes Sir", "Yes M'am", "No thank you" are easy things to do, I don't see why parents don't teach this kind of social ettiquette their children these days. It makes soceity look bad and gives alot of people a reason to be disrespecful to many people.

There was very little physical discipline, when I raised my kids. But I taught them respect for others, and they in turn are raising their kids the same. Supposedly, according to my old college prof, people obey laws/rules for two reasons either love or fear. Since my kids didn't fear me I guess it was love with them. Wonder if that holds true for todays generation.

Maybe it is because kids have so much more nowadays, and feel entitled to it. Used be you dreamed of Xmas and that gift you were gonna get, now it Xmas everyday. No goals to reach, they don't seem to be needed.

I think today it would be love and only love, because if the kids fear you they will just call the cops. I won't physically discipline my boy, what I said above was a figure of speech. I hope that he is well behaved enough that spanking won't be an option. Time will only tell what our child rearing skills hold.
