i agree, antomic, but that line still makes me laugh. it's horrible, and such things tend to make me crack a smile.
the good news is that currently a substance is in development that is like artificial bacteria: it attacks the HIV cells, eats them, and then dies, draining out of the system. it's a few years from market still, but it looks like a very likely cure.

@wolfboy... where did you hear/read about this possible cure/treatment?
@Antomic...I also hope that you (or anyone else) never get AIDS. Guys your age, give or take, are among the most frequently infected ... not from any predisposition but rather from the teen ager's inclination to take risks over the exercise of better judgement or a teen's hormone/testosterone induced sense of invincibility which is simply the nature of the beast at your age. When I was your age, taking a risk and losing meant, at the worst, a nasty case of the clap and a rather painful z-tracked injection of bicillin through a 12g needle in the a$$ cheek making it difficult to walk for a couple of days. The cost of a dumb mistake is infinitely worse than it used to be. Don't take the crazy chances we took at your age kiddo and you'll be o.k.

The medics I hung around with, while in Korea 71-72, had a special penicillin shot for the repeaters. Before the buttox injection, the needle was tapped on a metal surface giving it a nice small barb. It went in smooth but the ba$tard came out awful painfully. LMAO Med corps was sadistic in those days. All they saw were drips and fall- down drunks.

While they have had breakthoughs with HIV and currently have drugs that stop HIV from turning into AIDS its still a privlage that many of the people in Africa and other less fortunte countries then America can't afford these drugs. Although yes, it is a breakthrough that, if its proven to destroy the HIV thats something to celebrate about.

Yes, I believe thats how it started was among a group of homosexuals and because they didn't know it transfered though blood and other bodily fluids it spread to others and its all history from there.

@garmoon...well, those damned repeat offenders deserved it. God, I remember it well; to some, it was like a badge of honor! I remember a Med cruise where, just after leaving Naples, the ship's corpsmen had three of four hundred cases in one day! You know, we would work at putting these really disgusting training films together ... granulomas so severe and advanced that the ol' peckroids in our films seemed to belong to diseased aliens LOL!. Some would literally puke LOL! But after a few drinks and libidos hightened by lovely Lola and her grandma drumming up business, our granulomas were out of sight / out of mind. It's a flaw in god's creation: he gave men both a penis and a brain but not enough blood to operate both simultaneously.
@ everyone... while AIDS became front page news here around 1981, we know from exhumed and tested bodies that it existed for a couple of decades before that in third world countries; it simply went without notice as sickness and premature death was commonplace. Personally, I believe the following theory makes the most sense: shortcuts to the more expensive accepted procedures in developing and administering the polio vaccine in third world countries. Serum was developed through infected but immune primates. The vaccine for the one disease paving the road for another. Alas, that is Gerry1s theory....well, not Gerry's theory but someone else's that gerry thinks makes some sense lol!

Gerry: I believe its because the default sex in humans is female.
The male hormones take over after the body has partially developed so the nipples have already been formed.
