Could the ranking system be rebuilt? I hate the fact that noobs who have only been here a few weeks go from noobiee to senior in 12 minutes.

ddp: i'm not saying that; he has put in some of his dues here. i'm just thinking that maybe someone needs to beat some maturity into him. with a rubber hose. (minimizes bruising but maximizes effect)

antomic: not effectively, no--AD is just too big. besides one can usually tell quite easily who knows what their talking about and who's full of BS by the style of post and the tone and vocabulary use therein.

it would be easier to get rid of rank altogether; in reality, true rank is measured through your reputation with the regular members of a site. those of high regard find themselves supported by members with those of bad reputation, even with a high rank, are often mocked, ostracized, or worse.

once less emphasis is placed on rank and more on reputation, you'll see less of a problem. there's just too many 12 year olds on AD these days.

Everyone have a read of this email I got from a friend.
This is one for the little guy!!!!

A little background: Neiman-Marcus, if you don't know already, is a very expensive store; I.E., they sell your typical $8.00 T-shirt for $50.00. Let's let them have it! THIS IS A TRUE STORY!

My daughter and I had just finished a salad at a Neiman-Marcus Cafe in Dallas , and we decided to have a small dessert because both of us are such cookie lovers, we decided to try the "Neiman-Marcus cookie." It was so excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe, and the waitress said with a small frown, "I'm afraid not, but you can buy the recipe."

Well, I asked how much, and she responded; "Only two fifty -it's a great deal!" I agreed to that, and told her to just add it to my tab. Thirty days later, I received m y VISA statement, and the Neiman-Marcus charge was $285.00! I looked again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. As I glanced at the bottom of the statement, it said, "Cookie Recipe-$250.00". That was outrageous!

I called Neiman's Accounting Department and told them the waitress said it was " two fifty ", which clearly does not mean "two hundred and fifty dollars" by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase. Neiman-Marcus refused to budge.

They would not refund my money because, according to them, "What the waitress told you is not our problem. You have already seen the recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money at this point." I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes which govern fraud in the state of Texas . I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's office for engaging in fraud.

I was basically told, "Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money back." I just said, Okay, you folks got my $250, and now I'm going to have $250 worth of fun." I told her that I was going to see to it that every cookie lover in the United States with an e-mail account has a $250 cookie recipe from Neiman-Marcus...for free. She replied, "I wish you wouldn't do this."

I said, "Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you ripped me off!" and slammed down the phone. So here it is!

Please, please, please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of. I paid $250 for this, and I don't want Neiman-Marcus to EVER make another penny off of this recipe!

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES(Recipe may be halved)

2 cups butter
24 oz chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups sugar
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar, and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112 cookies.

PLEASE READ THE RECIPE AND SEND IT TO EVERY PERSON YOU KNOW WHO HAS AN E-MAIL ADDRESS! THIS IS REALLY TERRIFIC!!

Even if the people on your e-mail list don't eat sweets send it to them and ask them to pass it on. Let's make sure we get these ladies $250.00 worth.

Enjoy the cookies, they are good....

I myself just turned an AD addict a few days ago. I would hope I earned the right of the title. But again I have seen some senior members and addicts that have given some really crummy advice.

It wouldn't bother me anyway if the titles where gone. You can tell who knows their stuff and who doesn't just by reading the replies that are given.

Since the almost 2 years that I have been here I have learned allot from all members titles (Newbies/members/JR/SR/Addicts) Some newbies are actually well knowledgeable in the forum they just happen to have found the site recently and just joined. So it just shows that titles are not always what they seem.

@aabbccdd thanks for the compliment on the Signature. I didn't realize I was that photogenic myself.

my bitch for today,

RIAA sues wheelchair mother

p2pnet.net News:- In a new infamy, the Big Four Organized Music cartel's RIAA is suing a disabled, wheelchair-bound New York mother who's never downloaded a song in her life and who until the RIAA appeared, didn't know what file sharing was.

that's just stupid, but i think this story has been manipulated a bit. Honestly, they wouldn't sue her if she didn't even use or know what file sharing was. It may have been her children or grandchildren. Who knows. she is responsible for their actions.
Another thing you may want to know is that Hitler used propaganda to make the jews seem like the problem that must be exteminated. In this case,(in a much less terrible way) We are manipulating the truth about the RIAA and MPAA to make it seem as if they're the bad guys and they're responsible for all our problems. I am not siding with the big businesses, but i don't think stealing is good either. Don't be fooled by propaganda....I see it happen way to often. Afterdawn does, in some ways, bend the truth about some of the piracy articals on the site.

it's really weird, but we're spending a month just learning about the haulocost. I just can't believe the shit that happened to those poor people in Aushwitz and the rest of Nazi germany. I hope hitler likes his firey pit of hell, because the republicans are right behind him.
Nice pictures Auslander. I see it's hitler month for you too :)

I am sorry but I don't think people should go to jail or pay the mafiaa "fines" because some of us refuse to pay their their bloated price on the chance a small percentage of it goes to the artist or creator ,what the MAfiaa is doing is tant amount extortion and monopolistic.

When and if they decide to slim down and lower their prices some maybe just maybe I will start givieng a damn about what they think...untill then they are just another monopoly that needs to be shut down!

Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

(im not singling anyone out)
so that gives people the right to steal profits and not pay the people who the licence rightfully belongs to. I'm sorry, but i just don't think it's right. I hate the Mafiaa, but i don't like thieves who cower behind innocent people, booing the company that is trying to get the money they rightfully deserve for their creation. RIAA may suck, but it is their music! The artists chose to have them record and pay for their song, so they weren't forced to use the company. they could have become independant bands, but they didn't because they want money for their things. Who doesn't?
Alot of things that the MAFIAA do is radical in my opinion(huge fines, prison), but i agree with them on one thing. Thieves deserve to be punished, just like they would in any society.

zippy: the wonderful thing about freedom of speech is that, no matter how weird i am, i can proclaim my hate for anything. ^.^ besides, sasha's hot...emos aren't. :-P

antomic: my system is this--i download music to try it out. if i like it, i do research into the band/group, and find out what they're really all about. if i find myself respecting them, i buy their music; if i don't respect them, then i find i don't give a damn about stealing from them. but typically, those i don't respect make sub-par music, anyway. for the most part, i lack a conscience and common morals, anyway, so i like seeing the bad guy go free often. XD

and you're right about emos.

rihgt682: thankies.

when dose profit end?
they have made their profit ten times over in most cases, shearing will only cost them if they ONLY use their own severs for updates for programs....

For music it will only hurt when the industry can't back creative and good artists ,looky what we have a market full of half arsed un arsitic emos! my point is free shareing and free use will help the industry its called free advertising to lock it down for corporate use only is to cut your nose off because you cant see it!...

its the RIAA's music? only when the creator of the music signs its rights away for the rest of them they do have a say in it.

the wonderful thing about profit is that no company ever feels they're making enough of it.

every once and a while, you'll find a comic book shop or surf store where the owners cut you deals simply because they're only interested in enough money to keep them where they're at not get rich; or you'll see a company go on a charity crusade, though it's quite rare. but for the most part, everyone just wants to get richer--> and if you study sociology, you'll see that's a prime factor in the incredibly unequal distribution of wealth in the US, leaving many below the already low poverty line.

I agree with you all, but its also happening because less people want to make good music because they'll lose money. I know that RIAA are really rich, but they really are losing alot of money because of thieves. It's been argued and fought over thousands of times. I'm neutral in this copyright war. let them fight it.
