hello. after using these forums to successfully modify me PSP in order for me to play my(legitimately obtained) backup iso's, i've deceided to have a go with my PS2.
what is the best way to do this? hard mod or soft mod? having looked at various threads, the soft mod seems to be easier but no sure exactly how to go about it i.e what programs i need
sorry for the long drawn out questions but hopefully the super minds who occupy these forums can enlighten my limited knowledge!

Personally I think the best way is to install a modchip however this can be very expensive. I find the easiest, safest and cheapest way to mod your PS2 is to use swap magic and a fliptop.

If you are comfortable installing/soldering a modchip into your PS2 then by all means do, I did my first attempt at installing a modchip about 3 weeks ago for my XBOX and was a complete success, next will be my Gamecube which I recently bought on Ebay for £15 not a bad deal if I do say so myself.

I have used swap magic 3.6 and a fliptop for about 4 months now and havn't run into a single game that wouldn't work, people like to post horror stories and say that 'certain' titles don't work as they are too big, however this is not the case as there is numerous ways to get these titles working. (If your donwloading ISO's off the internet then 99% of all games that were too big have already been reduced ie Dummy files, extra's).

One thing if you don't decide to get swap magic I wouldn't advise getting a hardrive as these are;
Very expensive,
Some titles will not work whether you patch a fix to it or not,
If they stop working then bye bye ISO's,
also with a hardrvie you are limiting yourself to how many ISO's you can have while with Modchips/swap magic all games boot on DVD's therefore you can have as many ISO's ready as you see fit.

Hope this helps, if you need any more advise just holla!
