I have only used Shrink Dvd, but the threads mention AnyDVD. How do I proceed?
Download AnyDVD and then what?
Thanks

Arniebear,
Where does Nero fit into the mix. I own Nero, never gotten very comfortable w/ the program and so it never gets used. (I am installing the two programs you sent me now, but while they are installing I thought I would take this opportunity to ask you about what Nero is and your thoughts on it.)

CloneDVD is a compressing and burning program, Nero is not needed. If you want to use Nero to burn you can output your file to your HDD and then use Nero. I sometimes do this if I do not have the time to burn and want to do several burns later. Clone is an easy program to use and does not have problems with the new encryption. If you like Nero, you can use AnyDVD working in the background behind DVD Decrypter and rip to your HDD and then process the file with Nero Recode which then burn automatically with Nero. Recode is a compressing program made by the same developer as Shrink only it is faster and less CPU/resource hog than Shrink. I like Recode and use it for movies that are 85% or higher for my backups. Clone I use for some new stuff but mainly to split TV series disks.

I have installed AnyDVD and Clone Dvd and running them now. Do you mind conversing w/ me on this topic a little more?
I attempted to copy Capote, as you know, and was unsuccessful w/ the aforementioned error code using DvdShrink and DVD Decrypter. From the error message, can you decipher what was going on? Is this a new issue that DvdShrink is not able to handle?
AnyDvd and Clone, AnyDVD is not doing any of the backing up or copying and is running in the background allowing Clone to copy and backup? Is this a correct summation?

The error that you are getting from Shrink is the ARccOS/Puppetlock protection that neither Shrink or Decrypter can now handle being that they are older programs and no longer being updated.
AnyDVD is a driver that works in the background and will break encyption on DVD/CD so that the programs will see the disk as unprotected. It also weeds out the bad sectors.
You can use the free ripper DVDFab Decrypter that will also rip the newer protected movies and then process the files with Shrink. You can get that here if you want along with a guide on how to use the program

Any pro or con to using Clone of DVDFab over each other since DVDFab is free?

DVD Fab is free and AnyDVD is not but it also works behind any program and will break the encryption on both DVD's and CD's. If you are going to buy any program this is one to invest in. You can use it behind Shrink, Recode, Clone and CopytoDVD to name a few and it will work with all. Using it behind Shrink you can just rip from your disk directly with no need to rip to HDD first. You can also get a free program that is also a driver that works in the background like AnyDVD which is DVD43, many posters have good luck with it. I hesitate on mentioning it because I did not have a good experience with the program as my puter did not get along with it, but other have no problems. You can get that one here if you wish to try it.
