Welcome to aD!
Sounds like your rom doesn't like the Sony's. Is this the only discs that give it a problem?
Probably need a firmware up date on your drives. What are the make and model of your drives & rom?
What speed did you burn at also?

A quick search showed that others have had problems with this drive reading +r discs and that this drive may not support reading +r only -r/r/w. The last firmware for this drive is 1.01 - may help the problem. Here's a link:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=93
Now for the Sony - the latest firmware for that is 1.0d.
Here's a link for that one:
http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru810adwn.htm It's best to keep it up to date - a simple explanation is it helps with the read & write strategies of media.
Since your drive supports booktyping (makes a disc appear to be a dvd-rom) set this option in shrink to booktype them - that will also help with the compatibility. Booktyping can only be done with +r discs.
When you click back up in shrink go to the burn settings tab and check 'booktype dvd rom'.

The simple answer is booktyping makes a +r/rw appear to be a dvd-rom which is almost universally compatible. +r/rw discs have a field where this can be set during the burn process. Doesn't take any longer than a regular burn.
Here's a great link for addt'l info:

Once you click backup in shrink- click on the 'burn settings' tab - the option is there. Check 'booktype dvd rom'.

Hey taylorwin
You can do a forum search and type in crc error and I'm sure you'll get plenty of hits. Or do a forum search and type in the name of the movie - though since I Am Sam is older you may not get a hit.
Anyhow CRC errors usually mean the disc is dirty, scratched or a bad press OR shrink can't handle the copy protection.
I think your crc error is due to the condition of the disc. Clean it off. You can also try another drive - some are better than others.
A great ripper for this type of discs is DVD Decrypter. Try ripping with that then open those files in Shrink.
