Okay I am getting frustrated. I have a Rosewill RD-162 (DVD+-RW), and a Philips DVD8631 (DVD+-RW). Each of them fail to burn. Both of them will not show up as a DVD drive, just a CD Drive. Also if I try to burn with them they go to this little "Lead-out" stage, and then fail. Any idea? Do I just have two broken drives?

KingMath,
You can try this:
1. Have you clean the lens( blow compressed air gently in the opening) and then make sure the secondary IDE cable is seated properly
2. Go to device manager and see if yellow warning flags are present. If so then uninstall that device and re-boot and let Windows re-install properly
3. Take one of the drives out and test in another computer. If both drives work in another computer then:
4. Borrow a new set of cables and see if there is a short in the old. If short replace.
5. The only thing left is the MOBO
