if you are just burning data then you should be fine.
but i do not know if it will load in your Xbox as i have heard very few will load CD's
If you just plan to store them, then FTP them to the Xbox at a later date, from your PC, then you should be fine.

i've seen very few box's that would read a quality CD-RW and i've never seen one that would read a CD-R.

Why dont you just ftp over the files. There are tons of crap on the net that tell you how to install the maps without the disk.

Burning Recordable CD?s For The XBOX

I have been able to get this method to work on various xboxes including some with the thompson drive.

The following items are needed:

CloneCD
http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
Fireburner v2.2.1 http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,22374,00.asp

1. Make a backup copy of the Cd using CloneCD
2. Make sure that you tick the box to create a cuesheet
3. Start Fireburner, and import the tracks from the cuesheet
4. Click OK on the Fireburner status window to continue
5. Click on the options menu and go to the configuration
section, make sure the following are checked:-

Disc at once 96
Closed Cd
Eject when finished
Autocorrect sub-channel
Autocorrect EDC/ECC
Mode 1 Data tracks ( 2352 )
Mode 2 Data tracks ( 2352 )
Audio Tracks ( Wav )

If you follow these rules you will be able to use Cdr?s on your XBOX for Data as well as Audio.

I've seen lots of XBoxs read CD-Rs and RWs. It depends a lot on the drive inside. Also; I noticed something odd on my original. Out of the box; it wouldn't read any kind of cd-r or rw. But later on; when I started using Live and all the updates; a friend popped one in and it suddenly worked; all of them did. Weirdest thing, it makes me suspect that Live may actually update the firmware for some of the drives; making them able to? This is just speculation; but that was my incident; and a very odd one at that.
