In about one out of four burns with CloneDVD2, when the burn ends instead of the "Eject Disc" message coming up, nothing happens and the DVD Drive continues to spin. The burn is okay but I have to force CloneDVD2 to stop and then reboot the computer to get the DVD ejected. I'm using Taiyo Yuden discs, two different Pioneer DVD writers, a DVR-A08XLA and a DVR-109 OEM. It happens with both drives. I'm also using the latest version of CloneDVD2, v2.8.9.2.
I can't recall this happening several months ago. The only thing I can figure out is that another program running in the background could be causing this. Anyone else ever experienced this or have other ideas?

Thanks,
Dick

A clean install of CloneDVD2 is a good idea. I'll try that. You may have hit on something with DVD43. I do have it installed but not so it loads with a boot. I don't use it anyway so I'll uninstall that. I do have Nero INCD installed. I'm not anxious to uninstall that. If it gets down to it I can burn with ImgTool Burn which works very well. I do have the latest firmware for my drives installed. I'm sorry I should have mentioned that in my initial post.

Thanks for the help.

I would get rid of Nero INCD. Lot's of problems with that & Burning Back Ups have been reported. You can use Crap Cleaner to clean out your registry after uninstalling any software. Get it at www.ccleaner.com

I probably will take out Nero InCD. Too may people are suggesting that it should come out. As far as CCleaner is concerned, I already use that. Regarding Nero, I'm using 6.6. Thanks again for the ideas!

@dickcu,
The only "Stable" version of Nero 6 is: 6.6.0.18
The last update is very "buggy". There are download links for that version in the Nero forum. You need to look for them. Also install the related NVE update. Version 3.1.0.21 These are Stable & reliable.
If you get the LAST Nero Update you'll have problems.
6.6.1.4 is BUGGY! Highly recommend get INCD out of there.

Go to Nero's download site. Download the InCD update. Double click on the icon to install it. A "Next" window will come up. Click on that. The following window will have two buttons. One to "Update" and the other says "Remove." Click on the "Remove" button and InCD will be removed from your system.

Just download the latest InCD Installer as if you were installing the program for the first time. Double click on the installer as if you intended to install InCD. If you already have InCD installed, after the first two windows you'll have an option to update or remove. Click on remove.

I just got done having the exact same problem. I have been using CloneDVD for around a year now and never had any problems. I recently upgraded to clonedvd2. It worked great for a couple months then it started doing exactly what you described. Locking up the cpu half way through the burn. sometimes finishing the burn and you are unable to eject the disc unless you power down the cpu b/c the whole system is locked up. I finally found a solution for it today. It is a driver problem. Go to this site: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_ide_4.15_win2KXP.html
download the ide drivers listed on the page and that should do the trick. While I was having this problem CloneDVD was slowing way up and ripping dvd's in 1 hour where it used to take 20 min. I downloaded the drivers on that site and I tested it out by ripping a dvd. IT TOOK ME 17 MIN. So it looks like this here is a good solution to your problem. Let me know if you need anything else. Peace.

My problem was both ripping and burning with clonedvd2. I fixed the problem with the ripping and I was so excited I quickly posted it on afterdawn. I then tried to burn the file I just ripped using clonedvd2 and still same problem. The easiest way to fix this problem is to rip with clonedvd2 and burn with another program. I'm using dvdfab to burn. I will continue to look for a fix for the burning problem. I'll let you know what I come across. I am 110% sure its a driver problem. I'll see what I can come up with. Sorry I didn't fix your problem all the way. Let me know if you find a way to fix it. Holler.

Problem solved (so it seems so far). I updated my drivers on my video/graphic card and I updated my drivers on my motherboard. I got all that from www.nvidia.com b/c my board is nforce4 (for amd) and my graphic card is a nvidia 6200 turbocache. I also updated my IDE drivers with the link I posted above. By updating these 3 drives I was able to restore CloneDVD2 to its original working condition. (Thus far). Try this out and see what happens. Holler.
