ok, i recently downloaded a torrent for The Sims 2: Open For Business( i also have Daemon Tools V. 4.03 and winrar) but whenever i try to play it, it either opens up The Sims 2: Nightlife (which i have installed on my computer) or it says insert the cd-rom. how do i get this to work???

i don't know for sure about this paticular game as i do not own it, but i had the same with flight simulator. i had to download an extra file. do a google search & see if there is one for the sims.

You say you have it on your computer (Nightlife) but you don't say you bought it. You also say you downloaded it (Open for Business) but you also don't say you bought it. If you did buy it (Open for Business) then why did you download it?
I don't play games because I can't afford to buy them plus I prefer to use my computer for more creational purposes. Buying Photoshop isn't cheap which is why I can't afford to play games yet I don't download them.
Downloading copies of anything that can be installed is asking for trouble. Unstable, virus and incomplete are three words that spring to mind.
