Nice one for reporting him! Creaky the moderator happens to have another 4 links of evidence over people who bought fake media all from silvertek.

The "Batch Code" is 307T...only other thing on the hub is DVD-R. These are 100% fake. Will be burning the 2 fakes today and posting results compared with 2 real TYG02's.

@ryantodd...Another issue is simply that it isn't a very good deal to begin with, even if the discs are real (which, obviously, they aren't). Right now supermediastore has 200 8x -r TYs for $67.99 with free shipping. Other, even better deals are frequently available at the usual suspects (SMS, Rima, newegg, etc.). Find a reputable supplier you're comfortable with and stick with them.

Here are my results of the 307T FAKE TY's from Silver-Tek.

Burnt with NEC ND-6650A Burner:
4300 mb burnt. PIE's 162,207; PIF 4,314; PIF Max 5; Quality score 82.

Burnt with Sony DRU-710A Burner:
4300 mb burnt. PIE's 195,822; PIF 3,532; PIF Max 97; Quality Score 0.
Would only complete 62% scan....wouldn't read after that.

REAL TYG02 burnt with Sony DRU-710A:
4300 mb burnt. PIE's 51,492; PIF 12; PIF Max 2; Quality Score 87.
Had a PIE spike due to some dust on the disc, otherwise this would have been around a QS of 95.

This should show the difference in real vs FAKE TYG02's. Both fakes played in all my s/a and computer DVD drives. It will be interesting to see if they degrade in time. I have never even had a CMC-MAG burn with this many PIF's...and the few of them that I have have degraded in time.

2.4 Celeron;512k ram; 80gig HD; 60gig HD; Windows XP(SP1).

TYG02;YUDEN002;MCC blanks.
Favorite Media: Sony 8x+R(MADE IN JAPAN)

@akyllonen

trust me on the degredation of FAKE TYS, i got a few myself (not silver-tek, but FAKE TYs nevertheless- supermediastore's own house brand of Linkyo 8x DVD-R with the TYG02 MID non-printables MADE IN TAIWAN) and only 2 (two) will play today out of the 25-pack i received from a friend to "test" for him~ :) 2/25 is not even 10% success, that's pathetic...

if these silver-tek fakes are ANYTHING close to my FAKE TYS, you should see some MAJOR playback issues (ie. skippin/freezin/pixellation/etc) within a 6 month time-frame~ cuz that's approximately how long MY FAKES lasted...despite the fairly "good burn" in the beginning...

FYI, at the time i got the fakes, about a year or more ago, i also used a Sony dru-710a (with the latest firmware AT THE TIME) burned at 4x no less, due to my concerns about the "reliability" of said media at faster speeds...so, even back then, i "played it safe"...too bad that accounts for absolutely NOTHING now...juss thought i'd let ya know~ :)

long time no see akyllonen, best of burning to ya in the near future~ thanks for the insight and knowledge from these silver-tek discs, it's much appreciated for you to "go out on a limb" and test it out for all of us~ :)

the Benq's turned up today though i'm away for the night. i still lead a very complex life LOL. anyways can't wait to ditch the LG 4167B as it can't/won't do above 4x on any if my top notch media and replace it with one of the Benq's. Payday is 2 weeks away so i gotta wait to clear svp out of many more hundred YUDEN000T03's (haven't burnt any of the 300 that just turned up but lets be honest it's not like i need to use them to know if they're any good :O

as i always say, discs are no good on a cold warehouse floor, they should be in my possession. daft really as i got probably about 3000 blanks now but svp/most of the UK very quickly went out of stock of the 8x Verb TY so i'm not gonna miss out again (even though i think i still got about 1500 of their 8x Verb TY!!). Discs are so damn cheap i'd rather have hundreds of tubs around even if they never get used.

off to pub shortly and am half cut already so i'd better not keep posting (have my Blackberry) about TY or i'll sound like a scratched record :) :)

FAKE burned on my desktop wouldn't play all the way through on either of my s/a players. Asked for a refund, and he thought I was kidding! Filed a fraud complaint and told him I would forward his auction links to Taiyo Yuden.....guess I wasn't kidding...LOL.
