The final nail in the coffin was spending the last few weeks trying to break a leaked copy of the v3.0 firmware release. Sony have done a really good job on this one, and we've given up hope of being able to crack it. Not even the GTA exploit works - it seems that Sony are really serious about security this time, and it's depressing. The slog ahead to try to crack what amounts to a total rewrite of the firmware just doesn't seem worth it. Good luck to anyone who does decide to try.
Fanjita has decided to move to develop for the Gizmondo, a console that has been neglected for homebrew, but where the battle isn't quite so unrelenting. Work has begun on an eLoader for the Gizmondo, allowing the same rich homebrew platform that PSP owners have grown to love. Some people will ask, "Surely the GP2X would be a better choice?", but I've always said that the GP2X doesn't offer any sort of a challenge. Sorry guys, but the Gizmondo really needs some loving...
Ditlew has decided to focus his talents on furthering the burgeoning Xbox360 hacking scene.
So long PSP, it's been nice knowing you.

Sounds fishy to me, 1st of all they announce something like that on the 1st of April and they say something about a leaked FW 3.0 come on that has to be a joke if he had 3.0 then am sure if would be all over the Internet by now, they all seem to be sticking to the story on his IRC but has anybody actually spoke to either of them since the story?? Not to my knowledge. The only thing that i could think that would make this true is if got a C&D which still wouldn't make any sense since people like MPH would be in jail long ago i mean MPH cracks psp games fanjita & ditlew don't so why would they get a c&d and not him? The other part about Fanjita moving onto the gizmondo is rubbish i mean there coders there is NO FUN what so ever in running homebrew on a system that allows it i mean the PSP is testing there skills and honstely aprt from Tertis i have (or at lest not to my knowlage)never ever seen hime realse sometihng like an emulator (not saying he cant thou) so what the heck is he going to work on??

True P4, thats what made me stop an think, Gizmondo? Why would he?
That thing bombed soon after it came out, so why would any one want to work on it.

It's sad if it's true but hey what can ya do. There was a thread on pspupdates about "eLoader IS blockable! " and ditlew said that it is blockable

If this whole thing is true and they have quit the psp scen then it's a said day BUT correct me if am wrong Fanjita got his PSP toward the end of last year (the UK launch) so he's changed his tune pretty quick imo which coders don't normally do unless they run into a dead end which they haven't just yet. Also i pretty sure they wont release the source code for there eloader coz they go on about how anti pirate they are there gonna hit people with that reason not to source it because of the iso loader this might get made.
