Hey, guys. How's it going? I'm using Dup-DVD to convert a few DVDs into VCDs (I don't have a DVD RW, just a DVD ROM and CD RW)...but, Dup-DVD requires 2 discs for VCD quality and 4 discs for SVCD quality. Just wondering if there's any proggie (or other method you'd recommend) that I could use to "trim off some fat" or compress the DVD and keep it on only one VCD.
InterVideo DVD copy platnium also does a fine job.
Canopus ProCoder2 (Use the wizard- Great encoder)
TMPEGEnc does a great job too.
For pure ease I would go with Nero. For quality, (but VCD quality is poor anyway, so when I say quality, I mean "OK quality") I would go with with either Canopus or TMPEGEnc.
JXP, thanks a lot. I played around with the software some more and now I know how to go in and burn. But, what to do if I get something that's over 700MB? I can't burn to VCD so I just saved the MPEG to disc. LoL...looks like I'm back to where I started with needing to compress!
Why don't you play around with Nero digital? The quality is amazing, and you will be able to put the entire movie onto a CD. It may not be compatible with your DVD player though.
JXP, thanks a lot for the advice. I'll give that one a try. Just one question, though. When I put the movie on CD, will it still be able to play correctly on my computer (using PowerDVD, Nero Showtime, or Media Player)? I don't have a standalone DVD player, so I'm not too concerned about whether or not the movie will play on a regular DVD player.
