Normally I have no issue burning movies, but today I ran into a strange issue. I was trying to burn 'Just Friends'... and yes I did a search. But I am posting this cause I believe my issue is a bit different.
I use ANYDVD with shrink, and then it auto burns with nero. But in doing this I have been receiving an error.. a long message that I completely forgot to record.
So then I tried to burn the movie 'Just Friends'.. with the use of ANYDVD and DVDXpress. It worked perfectly. Up until it worked I thought my issue was my drive, but since it burned it, I guess not.
Now, I tried 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. Well, same method of ANYDVD, shrink, and nero.. it just freezes at 12%. So I tried what worked previously and did Xpress and ANYDVD... and that too freezes. Finally I did ANYDVD, and Decryptor... and I get this message. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks. (using Memorex dvd's that have worked for me flawlessly many many times in the past).

Can you post a nero log?
If in viewing your backup, your movie is freezing up/skipping, it could be your burn speed, you maybe burning too fast on poor media. As a rule of thumb, burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the media, but trying it 4x is always the safe speed to start at.
Also, the link provided isn't working.

Hi John.. I don't get that far. I just tried Shrink again so I could get Nero to burn it.. I could only get Shrink to read 12% of the movie. I am now getting the 'cyclic redundancy error'.
this is the first error I was getting.

Garmoon, not sure what recode is... I have just about all the burning software there is though.
Nothing is working.. not decryptor, shrink, xpress, clone...

if you have NeroUltra 6.6 or 7 you should have Nerorecode as an application listed in apps. It works just like shrink and is faster. The same guy wrote shrink and now works at Nero. I use AnyDVD and recode to do 90% of my backups. recode automatically burns with Nero.

Yes, the latest version of anydvd combined with DVD shrink should produce a backup with no problems. The latest version of anydvd is 5.9.4.1, update to this version and you should be ok.
get the update here;

If after updating anydvd, you're still having a problem with getting your backup, it's possible that there is something wrong with the disk itself, return it and exchange it for another copy, then repeat the backup process with the new DVD.

Yes, chances are that the older version would of worked on some DVDs and not others like newer releases with something different about how they were copy protected, but if you want it to work all the time, you should keep it upto date. It does have a check for updates feature, I suggest you have it enabled, that way you'll always know when an update is available.

21 days to try, $39.00 (USD) to keep, but you'll get free updates and support for the life of the product. It's worth the money if you're into backing up everything you own.

Actually if you buy AnyDVD , try typing afterdawn in the coupon box and see if they are still giving the $5 rebate, if not try cdfreaks and see.
Also AnyDVD upgraded today to 5.9.5.2
