I have the legit copy of MGS3: Subsistence and was able to go online with that, but when I backed it up without patching it, I was obviously not able to get past the DNAS verification (I knew I couldn't anyways, but just wanted to see what it would say). Anyways, now when I pop in my Legit copy, I can't get past the DNAS verification process anymore. Does anyone know if the DNAS Servers bans IP addresses?

Yes, my system is modded. I do not own the original and I do not turn off my mod chip to go online with the copy. =)

jjv, that's the most retarded thing I've heard anyone say... I was talking to random about turning the mod off and of course you wouldn't turn your mod off if you're booting a backup else how would the backup boot up? magic?
It's against the forum rules to talk about piracy and what you're mentioning there is piracy.

No, my ps2 is not modded. I use swap magic 3.6 and HD Advance.

Update:
Wierd... I fixed the problem by playing Resident Evil Outbreak online and now I can get passed the DNAS verification with MGS3. But sometimes I still can't get passed the DNAS verification with MGS3 alone unless if I get on with Resident Evil first. It doesn't make any sense. Could it be that the DNAS Servers were down by chance and It just happened to go back up at the right time when I pop in Resident Evil?

i dont get it.

-if you own the original, your unique DNAS/Disc ID is yours right.

-just because you made a backup, I cant see why that would have banned , or given any trouble atall in terms of going online because the DNAS code is only being used by you.

The PS2 would take care of the boot up process/verificiation of the game disc... so if your using the same DNAS as your original, I would have thought there would be no change atall as far as the online servers are concerned?

I don't get it either. I read on another forum that Sony doesn't ban IP addresses, so I guess that answers the question of the thread. But I still don't get why some games work and why some don't. I mean, it's the real copies and there's nothing wrong with the discs.
